The Beginning of Months Are Appointed Times

Opening Scripture: 1 Chronicles 16:9-35

Genesis 1:14-19 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from
the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Leviticus 23:1-6 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover.

Exodus 12:2, 15-20 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of
the year to you. Matthew 16:6-12, 1 Corinthians 5, Galatians 5:9

Exodus 40:2 On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the
congregation.

Exodus 40:17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month,
that the tabernacle was reared up.

Numbers 1:1-4,18-20 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the
congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the
land of Egypt, saying,

Numbers 3:40-51 And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of
Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names. (22, 28, 34)

Numbers 9:1-5 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the
second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

Numbers 10:10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your
months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace
offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the Lord your God.

Joshua 4:19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped
in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.

2 Chronicles 2:1-6 Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to
burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning
and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God.
This is an ordinance for ever to Israel. 2 Chronicles 8:13; 31:3; Ezra 3:5; Nehemiah 10:33

2 Chronicles 29:17 Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day
of the month came they to the porch of the Lord: so they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days;
and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end. 1 Samuel 20:5-24

2 Kings 4:17-23 And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath.
And she said, It shall be well.

Amos 8:5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we
may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by
deceit?

Ezra 7:9-10 For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first
day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

Zechariah 8:19-23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth,
and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness,
and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.

Ezra 10:16-17 And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the
fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down
in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

Nehemiah 8:2 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women,
and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

Psalm 81:1-4 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

Isaiah 66:18-24 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to
another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

Ezekiel 26:1 And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first day of the month, that the word of the
Lord came unto me, saying, Woe to Tyrus & Egypt: Ezekiel 29:17-21; 30:20; 31:1; 32:1-16; Haggai 1:1-12

Ezekiel 45:17-20 And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink
offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of
Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace
offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

Ezekiel 46:1-3 Thus saith the Lord God; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be
shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall
be opened.

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of
the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
