With an infrastructure that encourages sport competitions on an European level, Cluj-

Napoca won the first place in the “European City of Sports” Contest. Our city was the
home of numerous european-level competitions such as: FIBA Eurobasket 2017, the
participation of CFR Cluj in an UEFA Champions League match against Manchester

investment in sports infrastructure, the public policy to promote mass sports, and the

2. Cluj was rated second in a survey from 2015 concerning employment possibilities for

analyzed top 100 largest cities in the European Union, done by “Respire” Association
in partnership with “We Demain” magazine, Cluj Napoca the least polluted city in
Europe. The study gathers together the records of all European stations for measuring

4. Cluj is also a city that never sleeps especially during summer time period when Untold
festival transforms it into a place of wonder that brings together 240.000 of people
from around the world with only one goal in mind: to cross the streets in techno steps.
For this performance, Cluj received “Best major festival in Europe” at the European
festival awards. In addition to festivals, Cluj is in a constant search for the best places
in town to have a blast. For example: Midi Club is recognized on an European level
for having the best sound system in the Eastern Europe( and the 7th in the whole

awarded Cluj-Napoca the title of European Youth Capital in 2015. By winning this
title, Cluj-Napoca, “Heart of Transylvania” has been awarded the chance to fully
showcase its youth-related cultural, social, political and economic life and
development in 2015 and beyond. Foreigners choose to study in Cluj for its
remarkable universities which are renowned in the whole Europe. Most of them have

6. Projects from European funds. According to a study, Cluj-Napoca represents an

attractive growth pole. The city was also named as a good practice example at
European level regarding the way in which it managed to absorb the funding for
growth poles. The most important projects are: ClujBike ( free bicycles to avoid heavy
traffic spread in many locations), upgrading the tramway line from Mănăștur to B-dul

7. Hoia-Baciu Forest-Keeping the folclor alive. Cluj-Napoca being located in the heart
of Transylvania is a place where most of the traditional tales are still being told. Most
of the folclor tales are macabre, containing elements like vampires, ghosts and living
 dead. Located the city, Hoia-Baciu forest is an attraction point for tourists from around
the world who are seeking a good fright. A documentary from 2016 referres to it as the

8. Cluj- the most friendly city in the world. “The quality of life in cities” report done
by Eurostat, shows that Cluj-Napoca is ranked 1st on the list of the friendliest cities in
Europe towards foreigners. Cluj recorded the highest rate of agreement with 91% of
its locals having a positive perspective concerning the foreigners coming or living in

9. Art city of the future

New York Times called Cluj “A hub of art” and was said that it will shake up the art
world in the 21st century. Cluj is the home of some of the biggest and most remarkable
artistic projects. For example the old paintbrush factory was converted into an
independent cultural space and recently the Center of Interest was built to bring
