EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Mr. Brijesh Tandon is MD of Septra Foods (Pvt.) Ltd. Currently Manager, MIS of his
company is having some problems with his subordinate,Mr. Ashish Godbole. Now, whether
to keep Godbole or not has become a problem for Mr. Tandon as Mr. Godbole in the past has
done some real good work. A case writer comes and tries to know the story from both of their
perspectives. Ashish Godbole tells how he was a very bright student during his school days
and graduation. During in post graduation he was fascinated by marketing and also opted for
MIS in case marketing jobs dry up. Even though he had sheer interest in marketing he didn’t
get any marketing job instead got an offer from Septra Foods in their MIS cell. He accepted
the offer as Septra Foods is well known as a marketing company, so he could easily get job in
marketing too anytime later. And when the position for newly created edible oil division
opened up, he immediately got the position too. He got permission from his boss Mr.
Krishnamurthy but with a very heavy heart. Mr. Krishnamurthy had led him from the
beginning, transforming him from a novice to a trained person so it was real hard for him to
let Godbole go. However, upon taking of his new role, his journey got very difficult. Being a
shy person he wasn’t interacting much with the retailers and dealers and doing most of his
work from his cubicle itself without doing any field work. Mr. Bhujabal, Manager
(Marketing), upon observing all this and the negative feedbacks from field sales people,
resticated Godbole from the position. He was then shifted to MIS cell again. But this time due
to his behaviour and quarrel with the Manager,MIS , it is getting difficult for him to even
retain in this position also.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

Here, the situation is real tricky between Mr. Godbole and his boss Mr. Krishnamurthy as
there seems to be a misunderstanding between them. Mr. Krishnamurthy in first place was
not happy with Mr. Godbole shifting to sales. And when Mr. Godbole shifted back to MIS he
got into quarrelling with Mr. Krishnamurthy which made Mr. Krishnamurthy upset and he
even reconsidered keeping Godbole anymore in the organisation.

On the other hand, Godbole had to leave the job he loved or at least aspired for. So he was
frustrated about that. He even agreed later that he didn’t mean anything, whatever he said
during his quarrel with Mr. Krishanmurthy. He is even thinking of having a talk with
Mr.Krishnamurthy and pour his heart out.

PROBABLE SOLUTION:

Mr. Godbole is a good worker in the organisation and not getting the job that you aspire for
can frustrate anyone. So he can at least be spared for this, even after that heated argument.
Also he should readily talk to Mr. Krishnamurthy about his feelings and clear the
misconceptions surrounding him. The MD should also give Mr. Godbole another chance to
prove himself in the marketing job and give him more support from his side and also ask the
manager, sales to be a little more supportive towards Mr. Godbole.
