CHAPTER-02

Climate change, Fact or Fiction

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) created by United Nations is a panel which
establish every research related to climate change. IPCC has established that climate change is
a major problem. This panel has suggested that climate change is caused by human activities.
Professor Richard Lindzen disagreed to this report of IPCC saying that climate change is not
man-made. He explained that many years ago before impact of CO2, the temperature has
increased only a bit. When we had about 4 Trillion tons of fossil carbon we burned half trillion
tons since now but if we continue to burn the fossils we will reach at the end of fossil fuels.
But we will never cut the use of fossils. 34 National Scientific Academies have signed in the
IPCC agreement that says climate change is caused by Greenhouse gases emitted by human
activities. Either these countries have some strong political relations or these countries are
being pressured by other countries.

Professor Richard is totally against the IPCC report that climate change is caused by humans.
Although CO2 is released by human activities but according to professor it has not severe
effects on the climate. He explained that IPCC don’t have any proofs of their researches that
climate is changed by human activities. About 1100 tons of CO2 is being released every single
second. This much concentration will only increase a bit degrees in a century. The Professor
defends humanity in a very ethical way while IPCC only accuses humans for climate change.
