mechanisms could actually make falling asleep harder. While

some studies may prove this I believe that these are great
examples of ways to defeat sleep insomnia. Meditation, ASMR
Some people who suffer from sleep insomnia have resorted to and Napping
meditation. A study done by JAMA internal medicine included 49
middle aged and older people. Half of them completed a
mindfulness class. The half of the class that participated in the
class showed a decrease in sleep insomnia. [Some do argue that
meditation does nothing to help people sleep. The argument is
that while doing doing meditation you are relieved from stress but
then when you go to sleep at night you go back to stressing about
all you have to do. Dr. Benson disagrees. Dr. Benson recommends
practicing mindfulness during the day, for about 20 minutes. Dr
Benson states, “The idea is to create a reflex to more easily bring
forth a sense of relaxation.” Doing daily meditation can help you
create skills that help you calm down. You can use these skills
when you’re restless at night. (Julie Corliss)

Another mechanism people are using is napping. According to

ressleep.com.au, “The more you sleep during the day, the less
tired you will be at night, which may increase your insomnia
symptoms.” Napping has always been known as a negative thing.
According to health.harvard.edu, “Two 2008 studies of older
adults found that daytime napping didn't interfere with nighttime
sleep.” People who are sleep deprived can take naps during the
day. As long as you don’t nap too long, you will be able to catch up
on sleep while not affecting you falling asleep at night. So while
napping has been seen as negative, their actually an efficient way
to get you up and going.

Another mechanism people has turned to is ASMR. ASMR

stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. Watching
ASMR results in a tingly sensation that starts on the scalp and
moves down the spine. This is what causes people to fall asleep.

many people get through asleep insomnia.

ASMR is the new major outbreak. Reddit user ArcticFox4047 says, “I’ve been using “ASMR” to
help me sleep for well over ten years now-These binaural recordings are my saviour and allow me to
slip into slumber better than any medication I’ve tried.” This proves that ASMR is some people’s way
to get back to sleep and it works more than medication. “My ‘go-to’ is always a rainstorm with wind
and thunder and most of the time this will be based in a forest/wood”. ArcticFox4047 even has
favorites. They then go on to talk about how if they can’t find a video they like, they get upset.
ArcticFox4047 is just one example of how ASMR has helped people get a good sleep at night.

I believe these three mechanisms help people get to sleep at night. Although some studies do show
signs of these not working, there have also been cases where they have. This could be due to facts or
just personal preference. But if these three tools can help lower the 30% of the population that
struggle with sleep insomnia, why not?
