1- Identify the problem
 Products’ Samples of a turning machine are defects or defective,
which means the products do not satisfy the specification.

2- Research the problem

There are many causes may be the founder of this problem and the
following some of them:

a) Machines: no maintenance for the machine.

b) Man: Insufficient training, working for long time or slackness.
c) Method: Error in the design or the programming or there is cutting
tool failure.
d) Material: bad material of workspace or the cutting tool.
e) Measurement: wrong machine Zero Point or Workpiece Zero
Point.
f) Environment: bad cutting fluid causing high temperature.

3- Hypothesis

 I think if we change the cutting tool, the defects will be less before.
 I think that because there are gradual maintenance for the
machine, our operators are good training , our engineer is good so
I think they didn’t make a mistake in the design or in programming
and we used the best material and cutting fluids .
 So that I think the error in the cutting tool.

4- Conduct an experiment

 We will make 20 products on the same machine by the same

operators, design, programming, cutting fluids and the same
Workpiece material of steel alloy.
 We will do it twice once using cutting tool manufactured from
carbon steel and once from High-speed steel.

5- Observation and data analysis

 When we used carbon steel the defects are 14.

 When we used High-speed steel the defect is one.

6- Reach a conclusion

 For the Workpiece used in this process, the High-speed steel is

better than carbon steel.

7- Communicate your results

 If anyone need help you can Communicate with me.
