1. Air Pressure Test (APT)
Air Pressure: .2 Bar/0.02 MPa
Time: 1 hour
Thickness should be at least: 6mm
Use soapy water/Liquid
It is qualified that no air bubble appears on the weld and air pressure in the tank
recede less than 5% of test pressure value within 1 hour
2. Vacuum Test (VT)
Air Pressure: 0.2 bar to 0.26 bar
A box cover a joint with leak indicating solution is to be applied on the fillet or butt
weld
3. Hose Test
Pressure: 2 bar/ .2 MPa
Maximum Distance: 1.5 m
Nozzle diameter: 12 mm
Hatch cover and water tight doors should be closed
The upright welds shall be rinsed from bottom to top
If hose test is not possible then DPT, Ultrasonic leak test, or alternative test accepted
by CCS
4. Ultrasonic Test
A test to verify the tightness of a sealing by means of ultrasonic
Ultrasonic emitter inside the tank and a receiver outside. The location where sound
is received by receiver indicating the joint with leak
5. Flooding Test
Flooding test shall be applied to Galley, Dry Provisions STRM, Vegetable STRM,
Fish/Meat STRM, Milk STRM, Shower RM, Toilet, Laundry RM and battery RM.
The flood is up to sill high and holding 12 minutes to verify that no leakages exist
6. Kerosene oil test (KT)
Time 60 minutes with 10 mm thickness
Time 30 to 45 minutes with 6 to 9 mm thickness
Time 20 to 30 minutes with thickness 3 to 5 mm
7. Deformation / Fairness
a. Shell Plating: Standard 4 mm and Limit 8
b. Tank Top: Standard 4 mm and Limit 8
c. Bulkhead: Standard 6 mm and Limit 8
Strength Deck: Standard parallel 4mm Limit 8 mm, Fore and Aft 6 mm Limit 9
mm and Covered part 7mm and Limit 9 mm
d. Super structure deck: Bare part 4 mm Limit 6 mm , Covered Part 7 mm Limit
9 mm
e. House wall: 6mm to 8mm
f. Interior member( web of girder etc): 5mm to 7 mm
g. Floor and girder in double bottom: 5mm to 8 mm
8. Welding defects
External Welding Defects:
1. Weld Crack
2. Undercut
3. Spatter
4. Porosity
5. Overlap
6. Crater

Internal Welding Defects:


1. Slag Inclusion
2. Incomplete Fusion
3. Necklace cracking
4. Incompletely filled groove or Incomplete penetration

9. Dye Penetrate Test (DPT) / Liquid Penetrate Test (LPT)


Pre clean the test surface
Apply Penetrant and allow to soak
Apply the Developer and wait
