Interview with Mentor:

Isaak:​ What is your current position/job title?

Jim:​ I am an information systems security manager.

Isaak:​ What is your education/background?

Jim:​ Bachelor’s Degree in information technology and three certifications in computer security.

Isaak:​ Do you have any special skills/experience relating to creating websites?

Jim:​ I have created and maintained several websites over the years starting back in ‘96

Isaak: ​How often do you work on websites?

Jim:​ For 2017-2018, I was the webmaster for our harley motive’s chapter

Isaak​: Do you think that learning HTML is an important skill?

Jim:​ If you’re gonna build a website, you definitely should learn HTML

Isaak:​ When did you first learn HTML?

Jim: ​1996.

Isaak:​ What drew you towards a life in programming?

Jim:​ When I joined the Air Force, based on my test scores they said you are going to be a
computer programmer. I had taken classes in college, but I thought it was boring. Once I got into
real world problems, then it was better than just a homework assignment.

Isaak: ​Do you think that having computer programming skills is beneficial in your everyday
life?
Jim: ​For me it does, based on my career.

Isaak:​ With a background in programming, has it ever been hard to find a job?

Jim: ​No. I was with Northrop Grumman with over 15 years, so i was stressed when I lost that
job. Before I was out the door, I had 3 job offers and I got to choose my job.

Isaak:​ What software do you use in your job?

Jim:​ Office suites, word, excel, powerpoint, there is other software I use for checking audits
and making sure stuff is updated that are called Ansible and Alloy Discovery.
