SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary of the findings, conclusion and

recommendation based on the gathered information.

The study was conducted in Zoobic Safari, Subic Bay Metropolitan

Authority, Subic, Zambales. The study employed the descriptive-correlation

method of research. The respondents were tourists and employees of Zoobic

Safari.

Summary of the Findings

The findings of the study are the following:

 Most of the tourist- respondents’ age range from 21-30 years old, female,

and college graduate.

 Most of the employee- respondents’ age range from 21-30 years old,

male, and college graduate.

 Tourist- respondents showed the general sustainability level which is 3.13

and is interpreted as “Sustainable”.

 Employee- respondents showed the general sustainability level which is

3.49 and is interpreted as “Sustainable”.

 Respondents showed the level of sustainability of tourist- respondents in

terms of waste management with an overall mean of 3.05 wherein it is

interpreted as “Very Good”.

 Respondents showed the level of sustainability of employee- respondents

in terms of waste management with an overall mean of 3.47 wherein it is

interpreted as “Very Good”.

 Respondents showed the level of sustainability of tourist- respondents in

terms of animal welfare with an overall mean of 3.36 wherein it is

interpreted as “Very Good”.

 Respondents showed the level of sustainability of employee- respondents

in terms of animal welfare with an overall mean of 3.62 wherein it is

interpreted as “Excellent”.

 Respondents showed the level of sustainability of tourist- respondents in

terms of nature conservation with an overall mean of 3.02 wherein it is

interpreted as “Very Good”.

 Respondents showed the level of sustainability of employee- respondents

in terms of nature conservation with an overall mean of 3.55 wherein it is

interpreted as “Excellent”.

 Based on respondents’ answers, the correlation between the profile of the

tourist- respondents and its sustainability level was found “no significant”

relationship.

 Based on respondents’ answers, the correlation between the profile of the

employee- respondents and its sustainability level was found “significant”

with the age and gender. However, it was found “no significant”

relationship with educational attainment and designation.

 Based on respondents’ answers, the correlation between the level of

sustainability and environmental sustainability factor as to waste

management of tourist- respondents were found “significant” as to; I can

say that information about the waste management policy of Zoobic Safari

were provided (r-value=.455, p-value=.001); I can say that solid waste

management campaign materials are visible in the area (r-value=-.433, p-

value=.002); I can say that trained staff for solid waste management are

visible in the area (r-value=-.429, p-value=.002); and, I can say that the

place is well maintained and litter free (r-value=.322, p-value=.023).

However, it was seen “not significant” as to; I can say that bins for the

recycle, reduce, reuse waste materials are visible in the area (r-value=-

.236, p-value=.099).

 Based on respondents’ answers, the correlation between the level of

sustainability and environmental sustainability factor as to waste

management of employee- respondents were found “significant” as to; I

can say that we have adequate and trained staff in waste management (r-

value=.755, p-value=.000); I can say that we collected and disposed non-

biodegradable waste properly (r-value=-.669, p-value=.000); I can say that

we practice composting as method of processing biodegradable waste (r-

value=-.895, p-value=.000); I can say that we practice modern waste

disposal techniques like incineration (r-value=.580, p-value=.004); and, I

can say that we have a waste management plan, system and policy (r-

value=.545, p-value=.007).
  Based on respondents’ answers, the correlation between the level of

sustainability and environmental sustainability factor as to animal welfare

of tourist- respondents were found “significant” as to; I can say that

humane use of animals in featured shows and activities is evidently seen

(r-value=.346, p-value=.014); I can say that staff shows competency in

animal welfare (r-value=.340, p-value=.016); and, I can say that animal

facilities like housing, cage or cave offers a good quality of life (r-

value=.304, p-value=.032). However, it was seen “not significant” as to; I

can say that signposted information on how to treat animals are visible (r-

value=.136, p-value=.347); and I can say that the place show evidences of

animal’s healthy condition (r-value=.111, p-value=.444).

Based on respondents’ answers, the correlation between the level of

sustainability and environmental sustainability factor as to animal welfare of

employee- respondents were found “significant” as to; I can say that we have a

resident and licensed vet practitioner in the area (r-value=.677, p-value=.000); I

can say that we provide and support animal welfare education and trainings for

staff (r-value=.718, p-value=.000); I can say that we have a regular and effective

monitoring and evaluation of animal welfare (r-value=.777, p-value=.000); and, I

can say that we inform the public on how important animals are (r-value=.782, p-

value=.000). However, one (1) out of five (5) indicator of animal welfare has “no

significant relationship as to; I can say that we inspire people to love and protect

animals (r-value=.364, p-value=.073).

 Based on respondents’ answers, the correlation between the level of

sustainability and environmental sustainability factor as to nature

conservation of tourist- respondents were found “significant” as to; I can

say that there is a presence of a nature trails to experience the beauty of

nature (r-value=.547, p-value=.000); I can say that staff shows

competency in plant and tree conservation (r-value=.664, p-value=.000); I

can say that the whole place looks fresh and green (r-value=.509, p-

value=.000); I can say that information on the importance of plants and

trees were provided (r-value=.364, p-value=.009); and, I can say that there

is a presence of endangered species of plants as well as heritage and

significant trees (r-value=.309, p-value=.029)

 Based on respondents’ answers, the correlation between the level of

sustainability and environmental sustainability factor as to nature

conservation of tourist- respondents were found “significant” as to; I can

say that we provide and support plant and tree conservation education

and trainings for staff (r-value=642, p-value=.001); I can say that we have

heritage and significant plants and trees in the area (r-value=.810, p-

value=.000); I can say that we leave areas of old forest standing (r-

value=.721, p-value=.000); I can say that we leave standing and fallen

deadwood to provide a basis for biological diversity (r-value=.618, p-

value=.001); and, I can say that we there is an existing program on

replanting and retaining of plants and trees and we take into account key
 habitats and other environments that require special considerations (r-

value=.596, p-value=.002).

CONCLUSIONS

In the view of the findings of the study, the following conclusions are

drawn.

There is a significant relationship between the sustainability level and

profile of tourist- respondents. With those findings the research hypothesis that

there is no significant relationship between the sustainability level of Zoobic

Safari and the profile of tourist- respondents is accepted.

There is a significant relationship between the sustainability level and

profile of employee- respondents. With those findings the research hypothesis

that there is no significant relationship between the sustainability level of Zoobic

Safari and the profile of employee- respondents is partially accepted.

There is a significant relationship between the sustainability level and

environmental sustainability factor as to waste management based on tourist-

respondents. With those findings the research hypothesis that there is no

significant relationship between the sustainability level of Zoobic Safari and the

waste management factor based on tourist- respondents is partially accepted.

There is a significant relationship between the sustainability level and

environmental sustainability factor as to waste management based on employee-

respondents. With those findings the research hypothesis that there is no

significant relationship between the sustainability level of Zoobic Safari and the

waste management factor based on employee- respondents is rejected.

There is a significant relationship between the sustainability level and

environmental sustainability factor as to animal welfare based on tourist-

respondents. With those findings the research hypothesis that there is no

significant relationship between the sustainability level of Zoobic Safari and the

animal welfare factor based on tourist- respondents is partially accepted.

There is a significant relationship between the sustainability level and

environmental sustainability factor as to waste animal welfare based on

employee- respondents. With those findings the research hypothesis that there is

no significant relationship between the sustainability level of Zoobic Safari and

the animal welfare factor based on employee- respondents is partially

accepted.

There is a significant relationship between the sustainability level and

environmental sustainability factor as to waste nature conservation based on

tourist- respondents. With those findings the research hypothesis that there is no

significant relationship between the sustainability level of Zoobic Safari and the

nature conservation factor based on tourist- respondents is rejected.

There is a significant relationship between the sustainability level and

environmental sustainability factor as to waste nature conservation based on

employee- respondents. With those findings the research hypothesis that there is
no significant relationship between the sustainability level of Zoobic Safari and

the nature conservation factor based on employee- respondents is rejected.

RECOMMENDATION

Based on the findings and conclusions, it is recommended that;

a. To the tourist, to appreciate more the beauty of nature for the sake of

humanity.

b. To the employees, to be more aware of the things that are present in a

certain area, specifically in Zoobic Safari. Add more

c. To the future researchers, focus on the other factors that might affect the

sustainability of one’s tourist destination.

Additional questions regarding this issue require further study and analysis,

thus this recommendation for further research and study is offered, research

determining the factors that most affect the mathematics performance of the

students can be done.
