Elephant

Elephant is a herbivor animal and eat all almost all of the

vegetations and fruits. They have almost hairless skin, wide ears, four
legs, and long trunk. Elephants is known as the largest mammals.
The elephants also have very sharp auditory because they have
big and wide ears. By these ears, they can hear sounds from a
distance about tens kilometer. At the back of the ears, they have
one of the softest parts of their body which is called the knuckle. In
a zoo, Mahouts (elephant trainers) use their feet to steer or give
commands to the animal via tha knuckle. Now, they are a kind of
protected animals because their population remains little in their
habitat. Their population began to decline year by year.

Squirrels

Squirrels are some of the most familiar rodents. They are small to medium-sized animals with
relatively long tails. Squirrels have five toes on the back feet and four on the front feet, with a well-
developed claw on each digit.

Eyes are relatively high on the head and spread apart to allow them a wide range of vision. Size, fur,
shape, and tail features depend upon the type of squirrel.

There are three general body forms in these animals: flying squirrels, ground squirrels, and tree
squirrels.

Flying squirrels have large, bushy tails and bodies adapted for moving between trees. They are
generally slim with long legs. A furred membrane, double layer of thin skin, extends between the wrist
and ankle, which allows them to glide.

They have large eyes. Their fur is soft and dense and is generally brown, gray, or blackish in color. The
underside is a paler color.

Ground squirrels range widely in size. The marmots are the largest ground squirrels, with weights of
up to 7.5 kilograms. The smallest are the American chipmunks, which weigh up to 142 grams.

These squirrels are typically short legged with muscular bodies. Their tails are furry, but generally not
as bushy as those of tree squirrels.

Tree squirrels have long, bushy tails, sharp claws and large ears. Some have well-developed ear tufts.

Tree squirrels also range extensively in size, from the pygmy squirrels that is about the size of a mouse,
to the fox squirrels that can measure 46 to 69 centimeters.

Their hind legs are extremely long and they have long curved claws. Their tails are almost as long as
their bodies.

Pinguin (Penguin)

Penguins are sea-birds in the family Spheniscidae. They use their wings to ‘fly’ underwater, but they
cannot fly in the air. They eat fish and other sea food. Penguins lay their eggs and raise their babies on
land.

Penguins live only in the Southern Hemisphere of the world: Antarctica, New Zealand, southern
Australia, South Africa and South America. The furthest north they get is the Galapagos Islands

Penguins love to swim in the ice cold ocean water. They can swim very fast and can leap out of the
water and dive deep looking for food. A layer of fat together with a layer of air keeps penguins warm
in the cold water and almost any weather.

All penguins have a white belly and a dark (mostly black) back. Penguins cannot fly, but they can swim
very well. Their wings have become stiff and small swimming flippers. They have good hearing and
can see underwater. The white and black colors are countershading to help them hide when they
swim.

When a predator looking from underwater sees the white belly and wings of the penguin, they can
not see it well with the light coming from above. Seen from above, the penguin’s black back blends in
with the dark water. Penguins have webbed feet used for paddling in the water. They cannot walk
well, so they waddle.

The biggest penguins may stand nearly 110 cm and can weigh almost 40 kg. The smallest kinds are
only about 32 cm tall. Penguins have a thick layer of blubber that helps them keep warm, and their
feathers are very tightly packed to make another cover. They also have a layer of woolly down under
the feathers that are coated with a type of oil that makes them waterproof.

ZEBRA

Zebras are four-legged herbivorous mammal who belong to the Equidae Family (horse family). They
have a distinctive black and white stripes skin pattern that became their identity within the Equidae
family. There are three species of them in the world, they are: the plains zebra, the mountain zebra
and the grevy’s zebra. They are originated from Africa.

The appearance of a zebra is similar to a horse, the difference is their skin patterns. The black and
white stripes on their skin help them to protect themselves from the predator. It allows them to
disrupt the focus of the predator when they are moving in a group. The stripes may look the same for
human’s eye, but it is actually unique just like human fingerprint and it is different from one zebra to
the other.

Female zebra is ready for mating when they are three years old, while the male will be ready for that
when they are five years old. The color of a baby zebra is brown and white, as they grow older it turns
into black and white stripes. A full grown zebra can reach the size of 2,6 m long. The body height can
reach 1,3 m and the body weight can reach 350 kg. They can run at the maximum speed of 56 km/h
and their kick is strong enough to injure the enemy.

in a grassland. Some of well known species of wolves are: Arctic Wolf, Dire Wolf and Gray Wolf.

A full grown wolf can reach the size of 1,4 to 1,8 m from nose to tail. Their body weight can reach 23
to 50 kg and their body height can reach 80 to 85 cm. They have a very thick fur. It consist of two
layers. The top layers is resistant to dirt and the second layer is water resistant. Some color of the fur
are: gray, white, black, brown and red. They can live up to six years in their natural habitat. They can

Hawk is a general term for a large group of birds of prey of the order Falconiformes. There are around
270 species of hawks that can be found on all continents except Antarctica.

Hawks vary in size depending on the species. Smallest hawk (American Kestrel) weighs only 0,11 kg.
Largest hawk (Ferruginous Hawk) weighs up to 2 kg. Females are larger than males.

Hawks are characterized by sharp talons, large, curved bill and muscular legs. Sharp bill is used for
biting and tearing the prey. Large species of hawks (such as Rough-legged Hawk) reach the length of
55 cm, with wingspan of 140 cm.

Hawks have excellent eyesight. They can see 8 times better than humans. Eyesight is primarily used
for hunting. Hawk can locate its prey from a distance of 100 feet, and Unlike many animals, hawks are
