Course Syllabus in Pathological Obstetrics, Basic Family Planning and Care of Infants

COURSE CODE : MID 102

DESCRIPTIVE TITLE : Pathological Obstetrics, Basic Family Planning and Care of Infants

CREDIT : 3 units

TIME DURATION : 54 hours/3 hours a week

PREREQUISITE : Physiological Obstetrics (Mid 101) and Human Anatomy and Physiology (Zoo 12)

COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course deals with the concepts of complications of pregnancy, labor and delivery, its causes and
management, care of infants, including management of childhood diseases and basic family planning

KSU MISSION : Kalinga State University shall primarily provide higher and advanced education, professional instruction and
training in the arts, agriculture forestry, social and natural sciences and technology, and other relevant fields of
study. It shall also promote and undertake research and extension services, and provide progressive leadership
in its areas of specialization.

PROGRAM GOALS : Produce students who can contribute to the needs of the province for sustainable development consistent with
cultural values and inspiration of the Kalinga people.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES : The program aims to provide relevant and quality education in Maternal and Community Health for the poor
and underserved but deserving students in the area.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the semester, the students are expected to:
1. Identify cases of bleeding during various stages of pregnancy
2. Develop skills in assessing patients with danger signs
3. Acquire the skills to counsel/motivate family planning clients
4. Understand the different stages of growth and development of a child patient
5. Adapt skills in the management of childhood diseases utilizing the integral management of childhood illnesses (IMCI) process.
GRADING SYSTEM:

The Kalinga State University Adopts the cumulative grading system.

Midterm Grade = 60% Classroom Activities + 40% Midterm Test


Final Grade = 40% Classroom Activities + 60% Final test
= 1/3 Midterm Grade + 2/3 Final Grade
