*Desktop Publisher (Page Layout Program) - Mix text and graphics to

create professionals publications. They are widely used by graphics artists to


create brochures, newsletters, newspaper, and textbooks.

Common Tools include:

Selection –to select, move, and resize images and text.

Text -to draw text frames, insert text, and importing graphics elements.

Graphics –for creating and importing graphic elements.

Magnification/Zoom-to present closeup and distance views of the document.

*Images Editors – also known as paint program create and modify bitmap
(raster) image files.

Images are recorded as dots pixels.

Basic tools include:

A pen – is used to create drawing and objects.

A brush – is used to fill an area or object with a color.

Filters –create special effects and textures for your pictures.

*IIIustration Programs- also known as draw program, modify vector


images (vector illustrations).

*Image galleries –are libraries of electronic images, widely available from the
Web.

*Two types Images gallery:

 Stock photographs
 Clip art

*Graphics suite –is a collection of individual graphics programs sold as a unit.


*Video editing software –allows you to reorganize, add effects, and more to
digital video.

*Audio editing software- allows you to create and edit audio clips. You can
add effects, like filters to your tracks. You can create MP3s.

*Multimedia –integrates all sorts of media including video, music, voice,


graphics, and text into one presentation.

*Links and Buttons- a multimedia presentation is organized as a series of


related pages. Pages are linked, and connected, by clicking buttons.

*Developing Multimedia Presentations – the creation of multimedia


presentation involves four steps:

 Plan and Analyze- determine objectives, resources required, and


project team.
 Design- use story boards to record the intended overall logic, flow, and
structure.
 Create – use multimedia authoring programs to create presentation and
integrate various media elements.
 Support- identifies errors, evaluate effectiveness, and revise as needed.

*Multimedia Authoring Programs- are special programs to create


multimedia presentations. They bring together video, audio, graphics, and text
elements in an interactive framework.
