Descendants of the Sun

Descendants of the Sun (Korean film) is a gorgeous melo-romance about a surgeon and a soldier
in a disaster-stricken country. It’s a beautiful show with steady pacing, solid writing, and an
amazing cast and crew.
Descendants of the Sun tells the story of a special forces captain (Song Joong Ki) and a doctor
(Song Hye Kyo) who fall in love while providing aid in a country dealing with a natural disaster
and civil strife. This drama will tell of how they both band together in a time of war and
overcome the odds against them.
Descendants of the Sun was a highly anticipated drama for 2016. The drama boasted an
enormous budget, gorgeous cinematography, and high quality special effects.
It aired on KBS2 from February 24 to April 14, 2016 for 16 episodes. KBS then aired three
additional special episodes from April 20 to April 22, 2016 containing highlights and the best
scenes from the series, the drama's production process, behind-the-scenes footage,
commentaries from cast members and the final epilogue.
The series was a major hit in South Korea where it drew a peak audience share of 38.8%, and
gained popularity across Asia. It received several awards, such as winning the Grand Prize in
television at the 52ndBaeksang Arts Awards; and was named the Most Popular Show of the
year by Korea Broadcasting Advertising Corporation.

And Descendants of the Sun burst onto the scene and took the drama world by storm. With
amazing ratings and global popularity, the drama lived up to the anticipation and definitely left
it’s mark.
