Lesson Procedures:

Students meet on their attendance numbers. They are instructed to choose a basketball to dribble around the
perimeter of the yard while jogging. After 5 minutes of dribble and jog, students will return their ball to the cart and
take a water break. Students will be invited back to the board for a review of rules and vocabulary terms. We will
discuss the tournament match ups. Teams will be assigned a jersey to wear and courts will be assigned for play.
One team will be responsible for keeping score on a white board for the two teams playing on the court.

Students will play 5 minute scrimmage games against their opponents. These games will be half-court games.
Teacher will be monitoring game play and calling fouls if need be. Students keeping score will use tallies to confirm
point scoring between two teams, 2 points for inside the arch on the court; 3 points for outside the arch on the court.

After 5 minutes of game play, the whistle will be blown and students will meet at half court to shake hands. Winning
teams will be documented and students will be asked to get a water break.

The final game of the tournament is a full court scrimmage. Students will play for 5 minutes and the winner of the
tournament will win a prize. Second and third place will also win a smaller prize. Students will finish the game and
shake hands. They will be invited for one more water break before we complete our exit slips.

During a stretching and cool down period students complete their written exit slip assessment.Students will
complete the “L” column of the KWL chart we completed earlier in the unit. Students are expected to complete the
“L” column with atleast 3 things they learned throughout the unit. Once students are finished they can return the
jersey and head to their lines to line up.
