Dear Sir/Ma’am:
Greetings!
In the past nine years, the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) – School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA)
has been in the forefront of showcasing the strengths and competencies of our departments namely
Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. To give emphasis on the
importance of the fields of engineering and architecture with regards to the growth of our country, AdDU
will be holding the Robolympics 2019 and SEA Fair 2019 with incorporated educational activities to
encourage more young people to pursue higher studies, and eventually, careers in these fields.
This year, the SEA Fair will hold activities for Junior or Senior High School students under the Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) track namely; Sketch Wars, Bridge and Tower
Building, Acoustica, Watercolor Rendering, Inter High School Quiz Bowl and Group Dance Showdown. For the
past years, Robotics Competition and Rube Goldberg were part of the SEA Fair; however, this year, these
competitions, along with others, will now be part of a separate event called Robolympics 2019.
In line with this, we are inviting your school to attend and participate in the said events:
• SEA Fair 2019 - March 8 – 9, 2019 for at the Ayala Abreeza Mall Atrium.
Attached are the mechanics and entry form for both Robolympics 2019 and SEA Fair 2019. These are two
separate events, hence, different entry forms. You may send entrants for only the contests that you desire to
take part in. Deadline will be on February 20, 2019 for all the entry forms. You may send scanned
copies of the registration forms through bgmatuco@addu.edu.ph. Please include your contact
number in the email. For inquiries, you may call the AdDU–SEA at 221-2411 local 8313 or contact us at

competition.
3. Each team can be accompanied by only one (1) faculty from their school. However, he/she is not
allowed to help the students with the contest.
4. The team shall construct the bridge within 3 hours, on the spot.
5. The team shall provide their own extension wire and one (1) small glue gun.
6. The other materials will be supplied and announced on the day of the competition.
7. Further details and specification regarding the bridge and its testing will be announced on the event
proper.
8. The declaration of the winner will be based on the criteria show below.
9. Once the bridge is submitted, no one is allowed to touch the structure until the testing. Only two
members of each group may conduct the testing of their structure.
10. The decision of the Project Head and the committee shall be final.
11. Registration forms must be submitted on or before February 25, 2019.
CRITERIA
The Criteria for judging will be composed of aesthetics and strength-to-weight ratio. Aesthetics, having only
a weight of 10% and the remaining 90% to the bridge’s strength-to-weight ratio.

1. Open to all students in the Senior High School level.

2. All representing schools must fill out Registration Form, which will be given along with the
invitations, and will serve as their official entry. Forms must be submitted not later than 25
February 2019, Monday.
You may send scanned copies of the registration forms through bgmatuco@addu.edu.ph.
4. Each school shall be represented by one (1) band.
5. Each representing school must form a band with maximum of five (5) members. Per band may be
composed of:
• Maximum of three (3) vocalists
• Maximum three (3) guitarists (including the bassist)
• one (1) percussionist/beatboxer(use of chimes are allowed)
• Keyboardist (optional)
6. Each band must bring their own instruments. The following equipment will be provided during the
whole course of the competition:
• Guitar Amplifiers (Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar)
• Microphones
• Microphone Wires
• Microphone Stands
Other equipment not mentioned will not be provided. Thus, bringing your own guitar wires/cables
and other equipment to be needed is highly recommended.
7. Any participating school will not be allowed to have similar entries. If such case happens upon
registration, “first come, first serve” basis will be applied. Entitlement of performance of the
entry will be given to the band who submits the requirements (w/song list included) first.
8. All participating bands must be within the event premises an hour before the competition starts.
Late bands may not be allotted sound check time.
9. There will be no genre restriction, as long as the entries are interpreted in an acoustic fashion, as
per the commonly known definition. The entries will be judged according to the rubrics stated
below.
10. Each band may perform either one (1) whole song, or a mashup of songs, as long as it is performed
within 3 to 5 minutes. Preparation time is separate from the allotted performance time. The song
arrangement, sequence, and key can be changed. Any form of creativity introduced within the song
is allowed as long as proper conduct is observed all throughout the performance.
11. Any routine during the performance that may lead to the violation of the integrity of either the
school being represented, or the Ateneo de Davao University is strictly prohibited. Each count of
occurrence of such case will lead to a two (2)-point deduction to the total score garnered. (e.g.,
Profanity in the lyrics)
12. The participants will have the freedom to choose their own costumes/clothing for the performance.
However, costumes should not be revealing and/or vulgar.
13. Every violation of the official mechanics will incur a two (2) point deduction directly to the total
score.
14. The total scores will be the basis for determining the winners of the SEA Fair Acoustica. There will
be three (3) places for the top three (3) of all the entries, namely:
• 3rd place - 2nd runner-up
• 2nd place - 1st runner-up
• 1st place - SEA Fair Acoustica Champion

A. Team Composition and Registration

a. Each school team shall be composed of three bona fide grades nine or ten students. One of
the participants shall be the team captain.
b. One alternate member is allowed. Should one of the contestants fail to represent the group
on the day of the competition, the alternate member shall take his/her place. Substitution
shall only be allowed before the contest proper.
c. One faculty member from the school shall must accompany the team and will serve as the
Team Coach.
d. A hard copy of the mechanics and registration form shall be sent to respective participating
schools. Participants shall fill-up the registration form duly signed by the principal or
headmaster. Once the registration form is signed, the team shall scan the registration form
and submit the form online through this e-mail: bgmatuco@addu.edu.ph. The schools must
pre-register on or before February 25, 2019, Monday to secure a slot in the said
competition. Otherwise, the team will not be allowed to participate in the contest. A
confirmation e-mail shall be sent recognizing your school as an official participant.
e. On the day of the contest, the school team must also submit the registration form duly signed
by the school principal or headmaster during the registration period. Registration period
will be at 12:00NN to 12:45PM (before the contest starts). Latecomers will not be
accommodated even though the team was able to pre-register. Walk-in participants
are not allowed.
f. The contestants must wear their prescribed school uniform together with their school IDs.
g. Each team must bring their own non-programmable scientific calculators and pens. Scratch
papers will be provided by the facilitators.
B. Coverage
The following shall be the subject areas for the coverage of the quiz bowl:
a. Engineering Mathematics (Algebra, Trigonometry, Solid Mensuration, Analytic Geometry,
Differential and Integral Calculus, and Probability and Statistics)
b. Engineering Science (General Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Information Technology)
c. Renewable Energy (Solar energy, Hydroelectric energy, Geothermal energy, etc.)
d. General Knowledge (Philosophy, Theology, World History)
C. Contest Proper
a. The contest shall start right after the registration period.
b. The contest shall be divided into three (3) rounds:
Easy Round – 10 Questions – 5 points each
Average Round – 10 Questions – 10 points each
Difficult Round – 5 Questions – 15 points each
c. The questions shall be read twice by the quiz master and shall be flashed on the screen. The
time shall start after the second reading of the question (or final reading of choices if
applicable).
d. The team must answer the questions within the specified time (15 seconds for the easy
round; 30 seconds for the average round; 60 seconds for the difficult round) and raise their
whiteboards after the quiz master have told them to do so. They shall write the answer/s on
the whiteboard provided. For multiple-choice questions, the team must write the letter of
the correct answer in CAPITAL letters. For identification questions, the team must write the
answer completely with the correct spelling. For problems without choices, the team must
write the quantity with the appropriate unit of measurement of the correct answer. Failure
to follow these instructions will invalidate the team’s answer.
e. After every round, there will be a set of Accept-or-Reject BONUS questions. For these set of
questions, only the category of each question will be initially revealed. The team shall decide
whether to accept or reject the bonus question given the specified category. The teams that
will choose to ACCEPT the question shall raise the thumbs-up sign. The teams that will choose
to REJECT the question shall raise the thumbs-down sign. Only the teams that choose to
ACCEPT will answer the question. Facilitators will collect the whiteboards of the teams that
choose to REJECT. If the team that chose to ACCEPT the question gets the correct answer,
the team shall earn twice the points given for that question. Otherwise, the team shall
be deducted twice the points given for that question. The teams that chose to REJECT
will earn ZERO points for that question.
f. The correct answer/s will be read by the quiz master.
g. Only the team captain can make a complaint, query or protest. It shall be done only before
the reading of the next question. In such cases, the team captain shall approach any of the
facilitators. Facilitators shall relay the concern to the panel of judges and will deliberate on
the matter. Once the quiz master starts to read the next question, complaints will no longer
be entertained.
h. The decision of the panel of judges, composed of 3 members, shall be final and irrevocable.
i. All points from all rounds including the accept-or-reject questions shall be accumulated. The
three (3) highest team-scorers shall be declared as the Champion, First Runner-up, and
Second Runner-up, respectively.
j. In case of a tie in the top three (3) scorers at the end of the three (3) rounds, a Clincher Round
shall ensue wherein the first team who raises the correct answer shall be declared as the
winner.
D. Awarding
a. The members of the winning teams shall receive medals and certificates.
b. All participants shall be given Certificates of Participation after the contest proper.
c. Awarding Ceremonies shall commence during the evening Culmination Program of the SEA
Fair 2019.

1. Open to all Senior High School students under Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics (STEM) track.
2. Each school must be represented by a team composed of four (4) students and shall perform
with a theme of “Women in Pop” dance routine.
3. Each school should be represented by their bona fide students.
4. The school can pick any woman artist depending on their favor.
5. Remixes are allowed as long as the artist’s voice can be heard in the music.
6. Strictly no song covers are allowed to be used in the routine’s music.
7. If the artist is part of a song (i.e., featured in a song of another artist), you are permitted to
use the song provided that the chosen artist’s voice can be the only voice heard in the
routine’s music.
8. Instrumental music is allowed if the original song of the artist is used.
9. Minimal props can be used in the routine.
10. Each team will be given a minimum of 2 minutes and 30 seconds and a maximum of 3
minutes to present. A team will have a 1-point deduction from their overall score for each
minute they exceed from the maximum allotted time of performance. If a team only exceeds
by a few seconds, it will still be rounded up to a minute.
11. A team will also have a 5-point deduction from their overall score if their performance
contains profanities.
12. Failure to give the entry forms on time or on the deadline of submissions will also result into
a 5-point deduction from their overall score.
13. At the end of each performance, judges will score each team with the following criteria:
Choreography 40%
Mastery and Synchronization 40%
Overall Impact 20%
14. The team with the most points will be declared the winner and will receive the cash prize.
