Siatex lil is an electric drive system that is used in the QSK45 and QSK6O engines in Komatsu 830E and 930E haul trucks. The 830E and 930E production Komatsu haul trucks have a unique feature that signals the Quantum” system when the General Electric (GE) system is disconnected. GE Live isa signal sent by Statex Il tothe Quantum” electronic contro! module (ECM) to indicate that the GE system is powered up and running, ‘The symptom is that the engine will only run at idle (0-percent throttle), regardless of the pedal position. The GE Live signal is sent from the GE system to pin 8 on the 31-pin connector, while the frequency throitle comes in on pin L of the 21-pin connector. If the module is receiving a valid frequency throttle and the GE Live signal is not present, the ‘Quantum ECM logs the 551 fault code. Ifthe 851 fault code is logged active in any of the 830E or 930E Komatsu haul trucks, connect to INSITE™ and monitor the Jale Validation Status. For the 551 fault code, the status needs to read FAULT. Before performing the troubleshooting procedure: © Inspect and clean the ECM connector pins. © Inspect and clean the OEM connector pins. * Check for any open circuits between pin 31 of the Quantum™ ECM B connector and pin 8 of the 31-pin OEM connector (OK if < 10 ohms). * Check for a short circuit between pin 8 of the 31-pin OEM connector to all other pins in the 31-pin and the 21-pin OEM connectors (OK if > 100K ohms). * Chock for a short circuit from pin 8 of the S1-pin OEM connector to block-ground (OK if > 100K ohms). Troubleshooting Steps Fault Code 551 is included in this topic for easy reference. Note: Step 2E and Step 2F are the troubleshooting procedures thal are specific to the QSK45 830E and the QSK60 930E Komatsu haul trucks. If all of the troubleshooting procedures are OK and the Fault Code 551 is still active, there is a possibility of an issue with: © Short or open circuits in the OEM interface harness © The GE system and/or GE system power supply. SRT: 00-675 Idle Validation ‘a Venton un Swat sign Sy ge! = Paul aE oe man Ao cult Description ‘The idle validation signal is a safety feature that disables throttle control while an improper validation signal is detected by the electronic control module (ECM). The idle validation switch provides an on-idle and off-idle validation signal to the ECM through the OEM harness and OEM interface hamess. Component Location: ‘The throttle pedal or lever location varies with each OEM. Refer to the OEM manual. Shop Talk: This fault code is usually caused by the improper wiring of the harnesses and idle validation switch. Note: f the throttle or throttle position sensor is changed or after a calibration download, cycle the throttle pedal (Keyswitch in the ON position) through its complete travel three times. STEPS STEP 1: Check the idie validation switch. ‘STEP 1A: Verify that the idle validation switch is connected to the OEM harness. ‘STEP 1B: Inspect the idle validation switch and OEM harness connector pins. STEP 1C: Check for an open circuit. STEP 1D: Check for a short circuit from pin to pin. The following steps have been constructed for generic OEM troubleshooting of the OEM circi tails, : inspect the OEM and the OEM inter- face harness connector pins. Check for an open circuit. Check for a short circuit to engine block ground. Check for a short circuit from pin to pin. ‘STEP 2E: Measure the voltage at the 31-pin connector. ‘STEP 2F: Short on-idle validation signal pin to ground, STEP 3: Check the OEM interface harness. ‘STEP 3A: Inspect the OEM interface harness and the ECM connector pins. STEP 3B: Check for an open circuit. STEP 3C: Check for a short circuit to the ground. STEP 8D: Check for a short circult from pin to pin. STEP 4: Clear the fault code. STEP 4A: Disable the fault code. STEP 4B: Clear the inactive fault codes.
