Metaphysics and love

Is there such a thing as your one soulmate? Many people will swear that they married

their one soulmate but the odds are not in your favor for finding that one person. If I had been on

a date with someone and immediately felt that I could live my life with this person, but then the

adjustment bureau told me that my job opportunity across country where I would find my

soulmate I would stay and pursue the relationship I'm in and not leave. I believe that a person can

live a long happy life with many possible different people. And the odds of finding your one true

love is one in 10,000 if you met a couple dozen new people for the rest of your life.

If you think about all the people in the world you will start to realize the odds of you

finding “YoUr TrUe LoVe” are slim to none. In the book What If?: Serious Scientific Answers

to Absurd Hypothetical Questions, Randall Munroe tackles the question, "What if everyone

actually had only one soulmate, a random person somewhere in the world?" in his studies he

figured that there are about 500 million people per age and if you met a couple dozen a day you'd

only be able to meet around 50,000 people in a lifetime. Just by the odds it's very unlikely people

find their true love.

My next point is that even if one person spent their life with the “wrong” Partner that

would mean that their partners also spent it with the wrong people and their partners did also and

goes on forever. In simpler terms if one person wasn't with their “true love” no one else in the

world would be either. That's why I believe that there are multiple people you could live a long

happy life with and there isn't one person that you are destined to be with.

In conclusion there are no soulmates. The odds are against you ever finding that person,

and if even one person in the entire world was with the wrong person that would mean every

single person had someone else they were supposed to be with.
