METHODOLOGY

Gathering Procedure

This study will be using a descriptive method of research. The researchers will

utilize an application called “Google Maps” found on a smart phone with the help of the internet

to look for the cities and municipalities needed in passing through the province of Ilocos Sur. When

traveling from Ilocos Norte to Manila or vice versa by a car. The researchers will be choosing the

cities and municipalities by following the national highway that is viewed by the so called

application. The city and municipalities are as follows: Tagudin, Sta. Lucia, Sta. Cruz, Candon,

Santiago, San Esteban, Sta. Maria, Narvacan, Santa, Bantay, San Ildefonso, Sto. Domingo,

Magsingal, San Juan, Cabugao, and Sinait. The researchers will be going to the city and municipal

halls of the said city and municipalities to gather information about their road networks.

The distance(in meter, m) and the time(in minutes, min.) consumed in passing through each

city and municipalities will be calculated and will be compared with the distance and time

consumed in passing through the alternative routes in each city and municipalities. The results in

each city and municipalities will be summed up to get the total distance and time in passing through

the province. The researchers will gather the data during rush hours only to get the best results.

The researchers will form graphs to make two personalized map in passing through the

province. First will be a map passing through the province using the main road only. The second

will be a map passing through the province using the shortest possible alternative routes. After

forming the graphs and the maps, the researchers will compare the graphs by comparing their total

consumed distance and time.
