PRO DEATH PENALTY

Opening statement:
Dear professor, Classmates, I stand before you today to present our outcry.
Death penalty: A necessary, but is this sentence too harsh for criminals who violate humanity?
But before answering that question, we would like for you to think about families whose life
was devastated, whose dreams vanished because of severe crime spreading in our society
nowadays.
A Criminal judgement punishes an offender for his unruly conduct by pronouncing in
him a sentence proportionate to the gravity of his crime. Here, the death penalty works. This
punishment is reserved for the most serious of crimes, including MURDER, GENOCIDE,
ESPIONAGE and TREASON, DRUG and CHILD TRAFFICKING, CAR JACKING with MURDER and
RAPE CASES.
We, as ordinary people fear for our lives and limbs as we walk in our streets. We should
make our country a better and peaceful place. We should build an Iron Fist in the laws we
implement for it to be respected and followed.
Several people have argued that the death penalty is an inhumane, brutal punishment
in practice. For all who are proponents of it, however, it must be accepted in practice as well. If
the practice is found to be too brutal, you must find ways to mitigate its brutality.
Several jurisdictions are already in the practice of doing so, by finding more painless
ways to end the lives of criminals. I have, thus far, presented some arguments in favor of the
death penalty. I look forward to those of my opponent.

*** People who are falsely accused gradually fades their thirst for justice.
Why should we show mercy for the criminals who themselves showed none for their victims?

Let’s talk about the recent cases, like Christine Lee Silawan’s Case in Cebu who was
killed brutally. If you are on the shoes of her Parents, what would you feel? Diba, gusto mong
murahin, sipain at higit sa lahat patayin? Gusto mo kung ano kinuha nya yun din yung babayad
nya.
