3D BIOPRINTING
1. Bioprinting is an automated computer aided
layer-by-layer decomposition of biological
materials for manufacturing of functional
human organs.
2. Currently it can be used to print tissues &
organs to help research drugs & pills.
METHODS OF BIOPRINTING
Laser based Extrusion based Inkjet based
STEPS IN BIOPRINTING
Computer model: This is made by using the languages like SBML, BioPAX & CellML.
Printing: There are 3 important components viz. Bioink, Biopaper & Bioprinter.
Post-processing: Then the model is kept in a bioreactor for further processes like cell-growth,
tissue maturation, etc.
ADVANTAGES
•Allows scientists to eliminate the wait list of organ transplants.
•Higher survival rates of printed cells.

DISADVANTAGES
• Organ is not sure about whether they can fit into a human body.
• Not much capable of printing complicated tissues.
CONCLUSION
With the continuous growth of the world population & increase of human expectancy, more case
of organ failure and tissue damage appear.
Most common bioprinting methods were described and discussed with their characteristics &
limitations.
In terms of future perspective for this work, more bio print testing would be needed to be done to
optimize the bio ink, substrate and the process parameters.
