Programme
This course is a developed educational programme teaching current concepts and fundamental principles in
the treatment of complex lower extremities and calcaneus fractures, incorporating the latest techniques in
operative fracture management and using a new advanced plating system. An important part of the course
will involve the discussion of cases brought by the delegates.

Dr William Ricci
Chief of the Orthopedic Trauma Service at Hospital for Special Surgery and NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital
(US).
Professor of orthopedic surgery at HSS and Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr Ricci specializes in the field of orthopedic trauma surgery focusing on treating patients with any type of
fracture of the arms (shoulder, humerus, elbow, ulna, radius, and clavicle), legs (hip, femur, knee, tibia,
fibula, ankle, foot, calcaneus, and talus), pelvis, and acetabulum. He has 19 years of experience and is
nationally and internationally known for his surgical expertise in treating complex fractures and
complications of fractures (nonunion, malunion, infection, and osteomyelitis).

Dr Roy Sanders
Director of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service and Chief of the Department of Orthopaedics at Tampa General
Hospital (US)
President of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, Tampa (US).
Dr Sanders specializes in acute trauma and posttraumatic reconstruction, as well as Foot and Ankle Surgery.
He is the President of Florida Orthopaedic Institute, a group he helped found, and the Director of the
Orthopaedic Trauma Service. He is currently the Chairman of USF’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr Carlos Olaya
Dr Olaya specializes in complex fractures of legs (hip, femur, knee, tibia, fibula, and ankle) as well as pelvis
and acetabular fractures. He is specialized also in the management of polytrumatic patient.
Learning Objectives
This course is designed to provide the participant with tremendous insight into the international trauma
surgeon’s thought process in extremely complex fractures as well as complications resulting from these
injuries. The information and comments provided are intended to enhance an experienced trauma surgeon’s
knowledge base with cutting edge techniques.
Participant profile
Highly experienced trauma surgeons, specialized and/or interested in Lower Limb complex fractures.
A comprehensive knowledge of the English language is a necessity as the conference is highly interactive.
