Daima K.

Mbele - Professional Biography

Daima, is currently serving as the school counselor for William D. Kelley Elementary.
Previously she was the High School Guidance Counselor and Director of Post-Secondary
Pathways at Chester Charter School for the Arts in Chester, PA. Daima has worked in fields
of Social Work, Counseling and Education for over twenty-seven years. 16 of those years
she has had the joy of being a Guidance Counselor in Philadelphia, PA. She is also a proud
product of The Philadelphia Public School System and feels a deep passion to help to fix the
challenges thousands of students face daily.

Her motto is:


“When we do not invest in what’s wrong; what’s wrong ultimately becomes worse!” -

Daima provides counseling/academic services for elementary and high school students.
She assists and utilizes her expertise in special education, psychology, mental/behavioral
health, ESOL (English as a Second Language) and is regarded as an organizational and
systemic specialist. In 2012, Daima was nominated by her administrators, peers and
students and accepted The Dr. Ruth Hayre Educational Award. In 2014-2015, during a time
of school turmoil and turnover, Daima was assigned to be the “Principal Designee” and
oversaw all administrative duties including; culture and climate, instruction and design, as
well as all organizational systems. Daima worked her way through college, and was the first
in her family to attend. She earned her BS degree in Social Work from Geneva College and
obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Eastern University as well as an
additional Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership/Administration from Gwynedd
Mercy University. She is a certified Secondary School Counselor and certified Principal K-12
in the state of Pennsylvania. In her spare time, Daima enjoys spending time with her family,
roller skating, cooking and photography. She loves to laugh and enjoys comedic satire.
