Question:​ Did Gene Luen Yang depict Chinese culture and beliefs in Boxers without any
personal ideological influence?

Gene Luen Yang is a Chinese American, Roman Catholic author who wanted to tell the story
of the Boxer Rebellion from both perspectives. Did Yang represent the Boxer Rebellion in an
unbiased way? Was he able to separate his personal beliefs from the text or is there evidence of
underlying ideology? You be the judge in a 5-7 page argument essay.
