Practice - Defining a Benefits Program

Overview
In this practice, you will learn how to define a Program and determine the activity reference
period and the enrollment rate/frequency. You will also need to add program year periods.

Assumptions
  You can use the OU HRMS Manager or OU Super HRMS Manager
responsibility. For this demonstration, log in as ouhrms/welcome and use the OU
HRMS Manager responsibility.

  You must have access to an Oracle Application Vision database or comparable


training or test instance at your site on which to complete this practice.

  Replace xx with your initials or the unique identifier.

Tasks
Define a Benefits Program

Define a benefits program, with the following details:

Solution: Defining a Benefits Program

Advanced Benefits create a Flex program – Standard Benefits must create a Non-flex
program.

1. Navigate to the Programs window using your local Super or HRMS Manager
responsibility:

 (N) Total Compensation > Programs and Plans > Programs

2. Set your effective date to 01-JAN-2005.

3. Enter the name of the program xx Vision Flexible Benefits Program (Advanced Benefits)
or xx Vision Non-Flex Program (Standard Benefits), where xx is your identifier.

4. Select the General tab.

5. Select Active as the Program Status.

6. Select Flex as the Program Type. (Standard Benefits - select ‘Other’).

7. Select Monthly as the Activity Reference Period.

8. Select Per Pay Period as the Enrollment Rate Frequency.

9. Select US Dollar as the currency or your local currency.

10. Save your work.

11. Select the Periods tab.

12. Enter 10 as the Sequence.

13. Select 01-JAN-2005 and 31-DEC-2005 as the Start and End Date.

14. Enter 20 as the Sequence.

15. Select 01-JAN-2006 and 31-DEC-2006 as the Start and End Date.

16. Save your work.

17. Click the Plans and Plan Types button.

18. Select the Plans tab.

19. Enter 10 as the Sequence.

20. Select the xx Be Well Plan.

21. Select Active as the Status.

22. Enter 20 as the sequence.

23. Select the Aetna (PPO) plan.

Note: The Aetna PPO plan--and the Kaiser HMO plan—are seeded with the Vision
database. You create a unique instance of each plan by linking it to your program.

24. Select Active as the Status.

25. Enter 30 as the sequence.

26. Select the Kaiser (HMO) plan.

27. Select Active as the Status.

28. Enter 40 as the sequence.

29. Select the xx Life Insurance Plan.

30. Select Active as the status.

31. Save your work.

32. Select the Plan Types tab.

33. Enter 10 as the sequence.

34. Select the xx Medical plan type.

35. Select Active as the status.

36. Enter 20 as the Sequence.

37. Select the Medical plan type.

Note: This second plan type is the medical plan type that is seeded with the Vision
database. You create a unique instance of this plan type by linking it to your program.

38. Select Active as the Status.

39. Enter 30 as the Sequence.

40. Select the xx Life Insurance plan type.

41. Select Active as the status.

42. Save your work.

43. Close the Plan and Plan Type window.

44. Click the Participation Eligibility button.

45. Select As of Event Date for the Participation Start Date.

46. Select One Day before Event as the Participation End Date.

47. Save your work.

48. Click the Eligibility button.

49. Select the xx Benefits Group profile. Make sure to select your benefits group.

50. Save your work.
