A learning process will take place effectively or not, it is determined by how the teacher
understand about the character of their student. The student characteristic is the identity of
student to describe the student condition, for example the student learning style, social
economic condition. It is very important for teacher to identify and understand about student
learning achievement , learning activity and the right assessment for student.
In our classroom our student come from different background, gender, ethnic, age, culture,
social economic and learning interest.
Prior knowledge is the knowledge the learner already has before they get new information. The
prior knowledge have the important role in learning process.
1. The teacher must understand how the structure and function of student’s prior
knowledge is connected during the learning process.
2. Recognition of students’ prior knowledge is one of the important variable in determine
the harmony of learning process.
3. The prior knowledge also used not only in learning process but also to improve the
meaningful learning.
1. Intellectual skill (Discrimination; concrete concept; the use of role; and problem
solving;
2. Cognitive strategy (record, making analysis and synthesis);
3. Verbal information (fact, principle, name generation);
4. Attitude (positive and negative);
5. Psychomotor (speed,accuracy).
1. Visual
The student is prefer to see information and to visualize the relationships between idea.
They learn best when information is presented to them visually. for example; symbol,
picture. The visual student starts their lesson material and then go to specific
explanation. So, as a teacher we have to give them charts, graphics, make your
presentation highly visual and show the relationships between your various points.
2. Auditory
Prefer to hear info rather than reading it or seeing it displayed visually. They like to
recite the information out load to remember it so, as a teacher we have to give them a
change to repeat your points back to you by asking questions and calling for students’
answer.
3. Kinesthetic.
They like to applied.
Sprinkle in a few exercises that get your students to stand up and move around in order
to demonstrate or experience certain points. For example: role play we can also ask
them to write thing down in order to remember.
