Atrack Avl Devices Basic Configuration Procedure: 1 Physical Wiring
Also, to make sure the typed command will be echoed on the screen, please set the exact settings as
shown in the ASCII Setup screen below:
Once the AT$GPRS is set to the device, on the server side, please open the specified port in order to
listen for the incoming request. In the above setting, the device will send a binary string that needs
to be replied with exactly the same as received data. To simplify the test, please use the Simple
Server Tool application provided by ATrack.
5 Tracking
All the AVL devices can be used for two modes of tracking:
5.1 Tracking on demand
This is to manually get the position message on demand. To do so, simply send
AT$GPOS=0
and the device will send the position message to the command originator with the current
information (time, coordinates, I/O status, and etc).
To specify where the position message to be sent to, the parameter can be changed. For example, if
the command is sent via SMS but the message is meant to be sent over GPRS to the server, the
6 Event Setting
This chapter shows some examples of setting the events in the ATrack devices. The devices are set
to use the following methods to send an event report:
An example is to set the ACC ON/OFF reports. The ACC is defined as the signal detected on IN0.
Therefore, we set the below commands to make the device send reports when ACC is ON or OFF:
AT$INPT=0,7
AT$REPT=101,1,"%IN0","1",0,1
AT$REPT=102,1,"%IN0","0",0,1
AT$RACT=1,3,2
The AT$INPT is to define the debounce time for the IN0.
AT$RACT in the example here is to define to send the event report to the server over GPRS and log
the incident also in the internal flash memory for later retrieval.
For more detail, please refer to the protocol document.
7 Sample Script
This chapter is to include all the example setting above into a script file. Simply copy all the
commands below and paste it to the hyper terminal at once. Note that the AT$GPRS is put as the
last command, and the reason is that the device will reboot itself after receiving AT$GPRS
command. You might need to hit the enter key for the last command if the <CR><LF> was not
copied.
Note that the following is to set the device to communicate using GPRS by default, use ACC (IN0)
as the trigger for ACC ON/OFF tracking mode, along with ACC status change reports (ACC ON:
101, ACC OFF: 102).
AT$FORM=0,,1
