Introduction
imVision Controller firmware can be updated using one of two methods: via http transfer to Controller or via USB
inserted in the back of controller. Different install packages are available for each of the methods. They can be
downloaded from www. imvisionsupport.com.

• Method A: Via
Via http session with Network Manager imVision Controller

This method can only be used if the Network Manager role in the iPatch Zone is performed by an imVision
Controller (and not a Panel Manager or Rack Manager Plus). In this case the firmware can be transferred
from a computer to the Network Manager Controller through http session and can propagate through the
Controller LAN to all other imVision Controllers in the Zone until it reaches a Panel Manager/RM where it
will stop.

Example: In this configuration, a fw transfer initiated from the computer connected to Controller in Rack 1
will propagate and update Controller in Racks 2. Controller in Rack 4 will not receive the fw update because
the presence of legacy iPatch Manager in Rack 3 prevents the fw update from propagating to Rack 4.

• Method B: Via USB Flash drive plugged in the back of each imVision Controller

This method consists in plugging a USB thumb drive in the rear of each controller to update.
The fw will not propagate to neighbor controllers via Controller LAN.
The firmware file needs to be unzipped and copied to a USB Flash drive (preferably clean from other files)
which will be inserted in the USB slot in the rear of the imVision Controller.
The firmware update will start automatically.

Click Open

7. Click Update Firmware

Note: During a Fw update the controller screen in all the racks in the iPatch Zone will show the progress. No
activity will be possible; the fw update takes precedence over any other user activity.

8. Once the update is complete it is good practice to login again to the controller and verify the update was
successful and the new fw version is displayed.
