3 types of culture:

Lived culture: current everyday life, we are experience it everyday => easy to access

Recorded culture: lived culture after sometimes become recorded culture. Some culture distinct might
be lost in the way

Culture of selective tradition: how culture becomes political. We only select certain culture into our
narration, tradition

Culture is selection and interpretation of certain interests and values

+Feeling: there is a structure in the feeling, rational understanding on specific object => representation
of idea

Imagination is drawn out from the interpretation of things

Culture always involve with the dominant forms of culture

Culture always responds to contemporary trends and interests

Content doesn’t change but the interpretation (political actors, distributions, location) has changed.
Some culture might become dominant/more important compare to others due to change in
interpretation.

Structure of feeling: culture of certain time and place, we can only understand certain parts of a culture.

Mass culture: pop culture is mass produced for mass consumption, their audience are non-
discriminating consumers, a product of commercial culture. It is originates from the people (an
authentic culture of the people, of the people, for the people).
