Bristol City Council, UK

As one of Britain’s biggest cities, Bristol faces many security
challenges. In the past this has included duplicated areas of
surveillance, a reliance on legacy upgrades and budget constraints.

A Synectics solution joins the emergency and traffic control

centres in Bristol together. This allows both control rooms to
share access to the city’s cameras and deploy advanced
surveillance tools. Operators now get the complete picture to
Synectics one touch operation; selecting one function on the
Synergy touch screen interface, automatically displays the
surrounding network of cameras on the control room video wall.

City of London Police, UK

London’s Square Mile is one of the world’s most important
financial centres. As a result, the City of London Police frequently
deals with large demonstrations and ceremonial events, as well
as fighting terrorism, crime and other threats to public safety.

The City of London is protected by a Synectics solution that

handles a network of 140 cameras and includes workstations
in police stations across the city. A Synergy-based system
was chosen because of the product’s intuitive and easy-to-
use interface, minimal training requirements and resilient
approach to evidence management.

Sheffield Colleges, UK
Sheffield Colleges has education facilities throughout Sheffield.
Through a centralised control room, they are responsible for
providing CCTV surveillance and access control administration
to all College buildings.

To upgrade their command and control system, they selected

an integrated Synectics solution that is capable of displaying
live and recorded video from various sites, and integrating with
access control, intruder alarm and fire systems. Our Synergy
command and control platform handles all these interfaces
and provides real-time communication of alarm events.

The new system has already proved its worth, by helping to

identify a fire, manage the evacuation of a remote site and
assist the fire services in dealing with the incident.

Centro Integrated Transport Authority, UK

Centro operates one of the largest public transport infrastructure
systems in the country, and has more than 600 cameras
monitoring stations and park-and-ride facilities across the West
Midlands. As part of a project designed to streamline operator
workload and improve reporting capabilities, the old analogue
control system was replaced with a Synectics solution.

Centro’s management team can now access reports swiftly,

and comprehensive handover notes and incident logs ensure
they understand incidents in more detail. Patterns are spotted
quickly and, as a result of the upgrade, car park incidents have
been reduced by 70%.

University of Leeds, UK
The University of Leeds has one of the largest single
campuses in the UK. The University has recently upgraded
its campus surveillance system to enable a more proactive
approach to security.

Enabling the integration of legacy analogue and newer

digital high-definition cameras, images are encoded using
Synectics technology and transmitted securely via the
University data network to the purpose built control room.
Here, footage can be monitored, controlled and reviewed in
real time on Synectics Synergy command and control
positions linked to a large display wall.

Streamlining monitoring and control in this way with an

IP-based solution, together with enhanced third party
integration capabilities, means that the University is able to
make its ‘proactive security’ aspirations a reality.

Since upgrading its system the University of Leeds has

reduced crime and slashed incident response times.

UK Power Networks, UK
UK Power Networks distributes electricity to over eight million
customers in the South East of England. To improve substation
and operational base security, UK Power Networks upgraded
their security management platform to a Synectics integrated
CCTV solution. This Synergy-based system enables analogue
and digital camera, intruder alarm, access control and building
management systems to communicate with each other, and
be controlled from one location.

Museum of Islamic Arts, Qatar

This groundbreaking museum is a significant facility, and
has a study library, several restaurants, ducation and
presentation areas, and vast exhibition galleries. It also
features the latest range of high-end security and
surveillance solutions, the keystone of which is a
comprehensive Synectics CCTV command and control
system. Operators view and control over 400 cameras,
covering all aspects of the facility, via the intuitive Synergy
interface. In addition, the solution integrates to other key
security systems, including the museum-wide access
control system and an RFID tagging system that protects
the artifacts themselves.
