FINDING AND DISCUSSIONS

This chapter presents finding and discussion of the research.

A. Findings

The research finding is from students’ scores of using past perfect continuous

tense can be seen from table 1: in table 1, students’ results of the use of past perfect

continuous tense..

a. Data Analysis

The data was taken at the second grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Kota

Ternate.

In table 1, students’ use of past perfect continuous through fill in the blank, it

consist 19 respondents. Six respondents obtained score 50., three respondents

obtained score 45, three respondents obtained score 40, two respondents obtained

score 35. Two respondents obtained score 30%, two respondents obtained score 25,

and one respondent obtained score 20.

B. Discussion

From the data analysis above, the researcher would like to show the students’

result of in the use of past perfect continuous tense at the second grade of SMA

Negeri 4 Kota Ternate.

 a. Students’ result in the use of past perfect continuous tense through fill in

the blank.

Indonesia in the use of past perfect continuous tense below;

In this part, students’ result of translation was not about past perfect

continuous tense but it was about past tense, present and past perfect tense. So, those

are incorrect.

b. Students’ result in the use of past perfect continuous tense in translating

Indonesia into English.

berangkat ke Makassar.

In this research, the researcher concluded that students’use of past perfect

continuous tense were still low based on the data pecentage, students result showed a

lot of very poor in traslation English to Indonesia. So English teacher should explain

again about past perfect continuous tense to students in that school.

 CHAPTER V

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS

A. Conclusion

Based on the data analysis and discussion in Chapter IV the researcher would

like to put forward inferences.

The secondgrad students at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Ternate still confused in

using past perfect continous tense. The finding shows that most Students did not

correctly answer the question of past perfect continous tense.

B. Suggestions

1. English teacher or lecturers do not only give more explanations on English

grammar but also need to practice students listening and give motivation to

students how to practice listening and be aware of their competence, so that they

may minimize their mistakes in interprestation.

2. The English students should practice more about how to use tenses in English , in

order to improve their grammar.

3. The future researcher should find the importance and problem in this research to

develop this research better because this research is not perfect yet.
