READING
8. Read the text and answer the questions.

My name’s Rachel and I’m a trainee ambulance driver. Last month, I did a three-week
training course. I learned to drive an ambulance in emergency situations. I also learned to
give basic first aid and how to move patients in and out of the ambulance.
At the end of the course, I did an exam. Now, I’m working at an ambulance station. I work
with a supervisor, but I’ll work on my own in the future. Last weekend I went out with an
ambulance team for the first time. We took a woman to hospital for an appointment. While
we were moving her out of the ambulance, we received an emergency call about a road
accident. There was a man with a serious injury. We took him to hospital very quickly and
now he is recovering.
In the future, I want to train to be an emergency care assistant. Perhaps one day, I’ll be a
qualified paramedic.

Safety at work – A report
