Proctor scheme

It is a basically a programme which is being

implemented for better management of the students
institution.

To every set of 10 students, a proctor(faculty advisor)

is allotted.

A proctor is usually a professor with an additional job

of mentoring.

He/she is the person to whom you can approach if you

have any sort of problem.

The proctor also keeps a check on your academics and

the student.

Even the leave approval or permission is given by the

proctor.
Since for many people staying away from home, living
in a hostel is a completely first and new experience,a
proctor helps you settle in and helps you find your way.

Why proctor scheme is not very effective?

The proctor scheme can be effective if implemented
properly.

But the implementation is quite difficult .

Even though the proctor claims to be like a second

parent/guardian students do not like to approach him.

Students do not like to share their personal problem

with him/her.

A proctor is a professor, so we cannot expect him to

free all the time, there can be situations when you
need to approach him, but because of his schedule he
might not be available.

The only cases where a student reaches out to the

proctor is either when the proctor has to approve leave
or when the proctor has to enable exam‘s seating
arrangement.

Regular meetings are not arranged to keep in touch

with the proctor.

Proctors don’t have time so they are not able to

concentrate on students individually.

Some proctors even come late for meetings and

postponed the meetings based on their availability
without concerning about students.

There is no separate hour for proctor meetings so it is

kept in extramural where most of the club activities are
done.
