BSCIC Virtual Exam Guidelines for Students- CQI and IRCA

1. Student should have mandatory web-cam and good internet connectivity with 4-5 Mbps speed.
2. It is the Student’s responsibility to ensure they have a quiet exam environment. Students should
inform other members of their household and work colleagues that they cannot be disturbed or
contacted whilst the exam is taking place.
3. Student to scan their exam environment using their web camera to ensure that there are no
forbidden items in the exam room, such as notes or course workbooks for closed book exams. In
particular, invigilators/ proctor must check that there are no mobile phones, smart watches or
other IT devices apart from the computer or laptop to be used for the exam.
4. Where copies of ISO Standards are used in the exam, Students are provided with the link where
they can download the standard.
5. Students are not permitted to have any applications or documents open on their
computer/laptop other than the exam platform and the video conferencing application. During
the exam, Students are not allowed to use internet search engines or communicate with anyone
apart from the invigilator/ proctor. Any breach of this requirement will be treated as
malpractice and will be dealt with in accordance with the BSCIC’s and CQI’s malpractice policy.
6. During the exam, Students must keep their web cameras and microphones turned on at all
times so that the invigilator/ proctor can continually see and hear the Students. If a Student
needs to communicate with the invigilator/ proctor, they should use the raised hand or chat
function of the video conferencing tool.
7. Exam sessions will be recorded so that BSCIC can review, as part of their monitoring processes,
whether invigilators/ proctors are conducting exams appropriately and the recording will be
held for one year following data security procedures.
8. Students are not allowed to stream exams and using a second screen. Any breach of this
requirement will be treated as malpractice and will be dealt with in accordance with the BSCIC’s
and CQI’s malpractice policy.
9. In case of a serious Technical issue jeopardizing the reliability where it may have occurred at the
delegates place or its connection, BSCIC (its proctor) shall immediately disqualify the test then –
communicate a retest with a different Exam series for a second and final chance subject to
receiving Corrective Action Response from Delegate on what went wrong and its corrections
and Corrective actions in B021. The retest will be chargeable.
10. Examination timing will be 2 hrs and additional 20% of total time shall be given to those
students whose first language is not English.
11. A demo trial of 15-20 minutes shall be given to all students 1 day prior to the conduct of actual
examination.
