10 Rules To Live By

Ethics are all about the making of choices within people's lives. By the use of ethics

people are able to make certain decisions based on the given situation that they are in. Justice is

when something is fair or having good behavior within the situation. Ethics and Justice relate

together because both have to do with behavior and being overall a good person. The three

ethical Frameworks that guided my 10 rules were the Consequentialist framework, Duty

framework and Virtue framework.

To begin with the consequentialist framework I decided to put four of my rules within

this group. The consequentialist “helps in situations involving many people, some of whom may

benefit from the action, while others may not”. I put sharing in consequentialist framework

because when you are in a group you have to have the mentality of sharing either in goodness

like money or sharing your happiness with others. Standing up for your beliefs was another one

of my rules and I put this in the consequentialist framework as well because you have to stand

up for beliefs when you are in a group. Putting yourself in other people's perspectives can also

relate back to the consequentialist framework because when you are putting yourself in other

point of views you have to look into different groups in order to do so. The last one that I put in

this category was to be open-minded and when you're working with different groups you have to

have your mind open to different areas. Duty framework is also important.

The next framework that I decided to put my rules into was the duty framework. The duty

framework is all about what you have to do based on your duty. The rules that I put into this was

to have respect, have etiquette and allow change. In order to have a job you have to respect the

people that you are working with to be able to do good with in the duty that you have to

complete. Having etiquette is also a good quality to have when you have a job to do because

nobody's going to want to hire someone that is a mess of a person. When you have a duty to do

something you have to have the mentality of allowing a change because the job might not get

done if you aren’t letting yourself change into what you have to do in that position. This also

allows you to be a good person because these qualities can help you advance within your duty.

Virtue framework is the last one.

The last framework that I put my rules into was virtue framework. Virtue framework is

the ability to be a better person based on what you think. Three of my rules that fit into this was

to let go of hardships, set boundaries and to forgive. Letting go of hardships allows you to be a

better person because you don't want to be angry all the time due to something that happened in

the past so allowing you to let go of that helps you become a good person since you don't have

that in your mind anymore. Setting boundaries for yourself helps you be a good person for

example not letting yourself get hurt is a boundary that someone can set for themselves that will

help them improve because they aren't letting negative people into their lives. With that

boundary they aren't going to get hurt and by them setting good boundaries it makes them a good

person.

My list of rules changed a lot throughout the course of this project because I decided that

the rules that I made weren’t making a good person at that. I wanted to base my rules on the

three Frameworks that I talked about because I feel as though it is important to include groups,

duties and what you think is best. I made a lot of revisions when my teacher said that the rules

can't make a person happy. I had a lot of rules that we're just plain and simple like having hope

but that doesn't really make a good person so I had to change that one. I wanted to make my

rules as best as possible because I really like the idea of making rules that people should live by

so that's why I made changes at the end.

My life would be so much more happier if I were to live by these rules because if I allow

myself to change based on my rules this will make me so much better and help me realize that

there are different points of views that I could see myself in that will make me improve socially

and also emotionally. I thought if I allowed myself to set boundaries this will make me not get

hurt my other individuals because I would know what is best for me in order to be a good person

and not a bad one. If everyone had to live by my rules I feel as though the world would be a

better place. Although that sounds cliche it is true because with letting go of hardships and being

respectful and sharing goodness this make the world more enjoyable. These rules are to ensure a

better society and to enhance a better way of life within the community or overall yourself

through the eyes of a teen.
