SPECIAL EDUCATION PUNJAB

Few of us are born less than others.This makes them

special ,special for parents and special for whole of the
World. Such children require special attention,care
and love.They need special education and very special
handling,so that they are absorb in society as useful
members.If we educate special children they can not only
sustain themselves without external help but also can
shoulder the responsibilities of their families.

GOVT Shadab training institute of special education was

opened in September 1984. September 2004 the institute
was upgraded with new staff and facilities.The site of
institute covers 4 canel including one playground,a hostel
with mess facilities and a sheltered workshop.The
building is also based on well equipped,ventilated rooms
for group teaching and training.The sheltered workshop
contains two big halls for vocational traing.There are also
rooms for speech therapy,music,television and
computers,a separate hall for social and other group
entertaining activities for children.The centre equipped
with modern teaching aid for learning and training for
mentally handicap children.The basic aim at the institute
is to rehabitulate the children and enable them to live
independent.The institute helps many people boys and
girls.They have variety of handicaps and problems but
 mainly the institute is catering services to children with
moderate learning difficulty.

The curriculum of institute is based on institute`s aims

including different learning objectives,through which staff
can assess each child`s level of development and device
the program of work accordingly.

The main skills which the curriculum aims to develop the

language skills,physical activities,Montessori
skills,practical skills and sheltered workshop.The students
was also participate in extra-curricular activities like world
special Olypics,PARA-Olympics Punjab,Sports
Gala,Tabloees,evening-entertainment,seminars,special
reception and other activities.Special education PUNJAB
provides free services to their special children,free
milk,schalorship per month and also free lunch facilities
sponsored by HELPLINE.

The fundamental aim of the institute is to help the child to

develop as a whole by meeting his/her individual needs in
a secure,encouraging and stimulating environment
through abroadly based structured developmental
curriculum,to act as a source of advice and support for
parents and to make them different aspects for
child development.

To provide children regular opportunities to mix with

ordinary children.To teach everyday practical skills
enabling them to be as self made as possible and behave
in a way which make acceptable in the company of other
 people.To prepare children for adult life through training
in different skills and jobs that would enable them to earn
their own livehood.

GOVT Shadab Traing Institute of Special Education For

Mentally Handicap Lahore,an institute which can be
quoted as an example for the other special education
institutions.` Really impressed by the working`so CM
PUNJAB announced a Shadab village for mentally
handicap children.
