INTRODUCTION
Chalk Mixture
- is a preparation of chalk, cinnamon, and
sugar in gum water that are used in
diarrheal infections most especially
occuring or experienced by infants.

- Chalk is a form of calcium carbonate with the


same chemical composition as ground calcium
carbonate, limestone, marble, and precipitated
calcium carbonate.

appears as white, crystalline, water-insoluble, tasteless and odorless powder


occuring in nature in various forms , as calcite, chalk and limestone.

It belongs to a
group of drugs
called ANTACIDS.
USES OF THE SUBSTANCE
- It is used to raise calcium levels when a person cannot get enough calcium from their diet
- Also, it is used to prevent osteoporosis.
- It is also used in treatment of high phosphate levels in kidney disease patients.
-Another usage of it is to relieve the symptoms of ulcers, heartburn acid indigestion and
upset stomach.
- In common household products, it is an ingredient in certain toothpastes, dry desert
mixers, dough and wine.
