ARGENTINA

It is a sovereign country of South America, located in the extreme south and southeast of said subcontinent. It adopts
the form of republican, democratic, representative and federal government.

Argentina is organized as a decentralized federal state, integrated since 1994 by a national state and 24 self-governed
states, also called "first order jurisdictions", which are 23 provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA),
the latter designated as Federal capital of the country.

Culture
The Argentine culture is marked by the multiethnic and multicultural character of its population, the strong syncretism
of its forms of expression, and a positive assessment of progress and modernity, in which a sense of belonging to the
cultures is combined, not without conflicts. European and Latin American cultures, with strong Asian and African
contributions.

Gastronomy
The typical Argentine food is roast or grilled (meat and entrails
of cow cooked to the embers), besides empanadas (species of
pies filled with meat and other tastes), the tamales, the humita,
the locro, the patasca and the the calapurca. As in neighboring
countries, the consumption of a chorizo sandwich, called
choripán, is very common. Potato and sweet potato are widely
used food since pre-Columbian times. Pasta, pizza, and puchero
have also become typical foods of Argentine cuisine.
Music
Tango is a musical style and a dance born in Buenos Aires suburbs with international diffusion,
strongly linked with Argentina and Uruguay, but above all with Buenos Aires. In this musical
genre Carlos Gardel, considered the King of Tango, and the world-renowned Mar del Plata
Ástor Piazzolla stood out, while the highlight of the dance was the worldwide success of Tango
Argentino, created in 1983 by Claudio Segovia and Héctor Orezzoli, with dancers like Juan
Carlos Copes, María Nieves and Virulazo. The Tango Dance Festival and World Championship is
held annually in Buenos Aires.

Sport
The national sport is the duck, which began to be practiced in the country at the
beginning of the 17th century. In 1941 the Argentine Federation of Duck was
founded, and in 1953 it was declared a national sport.

Striker Alfredo Di Stéfano considered one of the best players in the history of
football and the first great of this sport.

The midfielder Diego Armando Maradona considered one of the greatest exponents
in world history.

The striker Lionel Messi, since 2009, is considered by various sports bodies, by
several players, technical directors and the press, as "the current best player in the
world."
