Education Related Goals

Though I will soon graduate from nursing school, I know that my educational journey is

not complete, nor will it ever come to an end. I will be reviewing and consolidating all of the

information that I have gained during nursing school the in the weeks to month leading up to

taking the NCLEX. I will partake in the Kaplan course soon after graduation and study for

several hours every day in hopes of passing on the first attempt. Once I am in the clinical setting

as a nurse, I will continue to seek out further educational opportunities. I first hope to constantly

educate myself by reading evidenced based journal articles to remain informed on the latest

practices and innovations. I also hope to seek out opportunities to gain additional certifications in

my area of specialty such as the Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification, Advance Cardiac

Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. I also want to gain more knowledge by

attending conventions and conferences as well as partaking skills practice events. I also hope to

learn about other specialties of nursing by floating to different units and broadening the scope of

my knowledge.

Within the next three to five years, I hope to return to school and obtain a Doctorate of

Family Nurse Practitioner degree. I believe that this will allow me to further serve my patient

population and community. I hope to gain the clinical experience along with the didactic

knowledge that will help me gain more autonomy and make more independent decisions to

choose the direction of patient care. I hope to collaborate with a facility that offers tuition

reimbursement and will aid my endeavors of returning to school to further my education. Every

day in this profession will offer me a learning experience, and I look forward to being able to

take advantage of all of them so that it shapes me into a more educated and informed nurse.
