Concussions

In my essay, I will be discussing the short and long term effects of a concussion.

I will be telling you about all of the short term side effects of a concussion which can all

vary. I will also be talking about the long terms of a concussion and how they can vary.

A concussion can be caused by just a simple blow to the head. This can cause you

short term problems that only last a few hours or a few days, compared to long term

effects of a concussion, which can last weeks, months, or sadly, even years to a

lifetime.

“Concussion.” AANS,

This article was written by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons talking

about concussions, the symptoms that come with concussions, and signs of head injury.

The majority of this article talks about the symptoms of a concussion and the signs of

head injury. There is also some additional information talking about how to recover from

a concussion, and the proper ways to recover properly. I can use this information in a

paragraph to talk about concussion protocol. I can also use that information to figure out

how to diagnose a concussion.

This article above was written by Greg Bullock on a blog talking about concussions. In

the article, Gred Bullock is talking about all the different types of symptoms of

concussions. He also goes into depth with each symptom and explains them. He also

talks about a few long term diseases that can come with a concussion, like CTE

(Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy), Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. I

can use the information above in a paragraph to talk about the different symptoms of

concussions. I can also talk about more of the long term effects that can come along

with it and what they can do to your brain and body.

This article was written by Katy H. O’Brien and Mary Kennedy. In the article, they talk

about adults and their struggles in the future with TBI. TBI stands for Traumatic Brain

Injury. They had said that adults that had suffered a TBI, a more serious brain injury,

have dealt with long term symptoms such as memory loss. They also found out they

had trouble completing even simple tasks. I can use this information to discuss some of

the long term symptoms of concussions and give an example of how it can affect adults.

This article was written by Charles H. Tator, who is a doctor who studies the brain. In

the article, Charles talks about risk factors of concussions, as well as managing one. In

the article, he also talks about the diagnosis of a concussion. Lastly, Charles lists and

mentions the proper protocol returning to sports from a concussion and lists the different

types of concussions by severity. I can use this information in a paragraph to talk about

the different types of concussion severity. I can also use the information above to talk

about concussion protocol and the importance of returning properly.

The article above was written by Russell Bergum, who works in Orthopedics, and was

posted on a medical website that has blogs on it, as well as finding other doctors. In the

article, Russell first talks about what a concussion is. He then goes on to list a lot of

different symptoms of concussions to look out for. Lastly, Russell talks about what to do

if you think you have a concussion, and the proper steps to keep yourself safe. I can

use this information to write a paragraph explaining what a concussion really is, and

how it can be caused. I can also write a paragraph about what to do if you have a

concussion, and the proper steps to keep yourself safe from further injury.
