In accordance with the data sheet & drawings, the sand remover shall be coated

internally with FBE as per APCS-102B.

As per 32-SAMSS-004 para. 16.3.1, the vessel shall be hydro tested before
applying coating. But for Sand Remover vessel (Tag# V55-D-0075), due to the
small size of the vessel and the reduction of size from 16” to 3” at both ends of
the vessel, FBE coating is not possible after the complete fabrication and hydro
test of the vessel.
Proposal:
Petron propose to perform the FBE coating of the vessel prior to the hydrotest in
accordance with clause UG-99 k.1 & 2 of ASME Sec VIII Div.1. It is also requested
to waive off the requirement of leak test in accordance with UG-99 k.2 since the
vessel will be hydrotested after the complete fabrication.

Alternatives to waiver Request:

Since there is no accessibility, applying FBE coating after hydro-test is not
possible.
If above waiver request is not approved
After hydrotest, vessel need to be cut into three or more assembly sections for
FBE coating purpose. After FBE coating, those assembly sections shall be welded
and NDE need to be performed as per code & 32-SAMSS-004. After NDE, those
welded joint (Girth joint) has to be FBE coated. After completion weld joint & FBE
coating; again vessel need to be hydro tested as per UG-99(b).
This alternative method is involves cutting & welding of final vessel and also two
times hydrotest is required to compliance the code requirements.
