Blake Bergman – Maroon Spirit 2018-2019

I am truly honored and consider it a privilege to be

standing before you to represent the Class of 2019 as the
78th Maroon Spirit. While this honor is given to one
person each year, it truly represents the potential and
pride in each of us at Blackwell High School.
I want to thank my fellow classmates and BHS
faculty for choosing me to represent our school with this
honor and I accept the responsibilities and expectations
that it entails. I will strive to be a friend to those around
me, a disciplined student in the classroom, and a
dedicated athlete on the field, and successful man in life.
I am humbled to have been chosen out of so many
qualified young men such as Ben and Karston. I want
them to know that in the eyes of our classmates, they
represent the ideals of the Maroon Spirit alongside me,
and I am honored to be standing with each of them here
today.
I believe I would not be where I am in life without
God and the good examples that have influenced my life.
I would like to thank my parents for their commitment

not only to our family but to each other. Dad you have
always been an example of responsibility, strong work
ethic, and dedication. Thank you for teaching me that a
person’s word means everything. Mom you have always
pushed me to be a better person, always loving and
encouraging me and wanting the best for me. Thank you
for teaching me how to show compassion and
forgiveness and to always be grateful. Your examples
have helped shape me into who I am today. To my big
sister Brooke, thank you for helping me to always
believe in myself and for being my “Number 1 Fan” and
second mom. To my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and
cousins thank you for always supporting me in all of my
activities. To my friends, thank you for always having
my back and being there for me when I needed it and
always putting fun into my life and creating lifelong
memories.
Finally, all of you in attendance today understand
that our homecoming celebrations in Blackwell are
extremely special, and they are like no other. Thank you
for your devotion to your classmates and pride for our
 Blake Bergman – Maroon Spirit 2018-2019

homecoming traditions and most importantly your

hometown and school. You have left a legacy of
traditions and of homecoming that we will continue to
enjoy for generations to come.
