Vocabulary Folding Activities- Teacher Notes
This freebie includes 3 folding activities, perfect for covering vocabulary in a
new learning unit, novel study or regular vocabulary sequence.

Activity One - Vocabulary and Definition Wheel

This wheel can be used in a few different ways. Students can use one of the
two wheels on the sheet (sharing with another student or saving the spare
for another time) as a word or definition sheet. They cut out the wheel on the
solid lines (including between segments), write the word (or definition) on the
top, fold on the dotted lines and glue the middle section into their notebook.
Under each tab they write the definition (or word).

Alternately, students can use both wheels. They write the words (or
definition) on the top wheel and cut it out (including between the sections).
They write the definitions (or words) on the matching section on the bottom
wheel and only cut out around the circle (not the sections). They then glue
the middle section of the top wheel on top of the middle section of the
bottom wheel.

Activity Two - Go Deeper Fold Out Activity

This activity allows students to take a deeper look at one vocabulary work.
They write the word, synonyms, a sentence and a definition into the
rectangles. They then cut out on the solid lines and fold on the dotted lines so
the word and definition sections are visible and the synonym and sentence
sections are tucked inside. They can glue the back of the folded organiser
into their notebook.

Activity Three - Synonym Pocket

This activity is great for students to refer back to when they are writing. They
write one word on the front of the pocket and on the bottom of the pencils.
They write the synonyms for that word onto the pencils. Students then cut
out the pocket on the outside solid lines, fold the tabs on the dotted lines and
glue the tabs into their notebook. They cut out the pencils and tuck them
inside. This page can also be enlarged and used for a display in the classroom
or as a small group activity.
