Oedipus and Antigone Unit Assessment Plan

Before reading:
- Entry-level: Pre-reading quiz, students will take a short quiz on their prior knowledge of
Ancient Greece and tragedies, as well as their prior opinions on particular issues/topics
related to the plays
- Formative: Webercise, students will complete and fill-out the Ancient Greece webercise
activity to inform/develop contextual knowledge for the plays
- Summative: Ancient Greece/Sophocles Group presentation, students will complete a
Google Slides presentation within a group of 4 students explaining a particular, assigned
aspect of either Ancient Greece or Sophocles’ life

During reading:
- Formative: Reading notes, students will identify important quotes and summarize each
scene of the play, writing in complete sentences
- Formative: Vocabulary quiz, students will understand vocabulary words that are vital to
understanding the play, be able to match the terms to their definitions, and complete
sentences correctly using the words

After reading:
- Formative: Venn Diagram, students will complete a Venn Diagram comparing the
characters Oedipus and Creon from both plays
- Summative: Final Exam, students will demonstrate understanding of major themes and
plot points of both plays in a multiple choice exam
