presentation.

filling in at least 5 details for Oedipus, 5 details for Creon, and 3 details for similarities between the two.
Unit Summary:

Oedipus Rex and Antigone by Sophocles create opportunities for discussions on fate, consequences, and responsibility. Throughout the plays, the characters
battle against their fate, fighting it, but ultimately succumbing to it. Based on their understanding of the plays, students will analyze and discuss responsibility
for their actions. Throughout the unit, students will be given the space to think introspectively about themselves, their behavior, and their future.
First, the unit will begin with a lecture on Fate, as well as other introductory elements to the plays. Students will then be introduced to the history of Ancient
Greece and required to complete a Webercise activity where they gather details about Ancient Greece and Sophocles from various websites. Next, students will
be asked to do their own additional research on historical elements of the time period, as well as other context information, and create a group presentation on
the information they gather. Finally, after reading both plays, students will be given a Venn Diagram to complete, comparing the similarities and differences
between our two main characters, Oedipus and Creon, analyzing their characteristics and downfalls.
