of physical education and expanded physical education.

Artifact: Advocacy Project

Reflection:

In PED 382 we were assigned to create an informative newsletter based on an imaginary school. The
purpose of this advocacy project was to provide students and their families with helpful information and
resources pertaining to physical activity and nutrition. Along with listing helpful tips that will make
physical activity more enjoyable, as well as providing a variety of ways to get involved whether it is
through the school or the community.

The advocacy project relates to component 6.c because from primarily using technology, I could provide
students with an easily accessible newsletter pertaining to the promotion and beneficial factors that
come from being physically active and healthy. The benefits of technology also allowed me to include
links within my newsletter that could bring students directly to a different website if they are interested
in learning more about a healthy diet or physical activity guidelines.

Creating newsletters is of great importance for the development of a physical educator because
knowing the key points of a specific topic and being able to appropriately present them in a creative
manner is a big factor that must be incorporated if you are trying to grab the attention of students. Most
importantly, knowing how to use technology to your advantage is very important for the development
of a physical educator, especially in today’s vastly growing technological society. The reason being, with
an unlimited supply of resources that are provided through the internet a physical educator could use
these advancements in technology as a way of keeping kids more engaged outside of the classroom, and
for certain incidences it could be just as beneficial for technology to be incorporated within the
classroom as well.
