1. Chapter1: Vision and scope
1.1 Introduction
We are developing an “Online Examination System”, which will allow students to select the
courses for which they will give exams, do the exams online and get their results online. The
effective use of "Online Examination System", any Educational Institute or training centers can
be use it to develop their strategy for putting the exams, and for getting better results in less time.
It provides an easy to use environment for both exam conductors and students appearing for
Examination. The main objective of Online Examination System is to provide all the features
that an Examination System must have, with the "interfaces that don’t scare its Users.

Purpose

The purpose of this application is to conduct and process various types of online examination
through various ways.
Scope
The system handles all the operations and generates reports as soon as the test is finish, that
includes name, mark, time spent to solve the exam. The type of questions is detailed and
multiple-choice question. The administrator of the system prepares the tests and questions for
each exam. The candidates can login through the client computers with their register number
given to them and can take the exam. The questions are shuffled in a random order so that
possibilities for getting questions in the same order for the students who are besides, is very less.

1.3. Overview

Online Exams System establishes a network between the institutes and the students. In it,
set of detailed and various type of questions are displayed as a test to the appearing
students. The answers enter by the students are then evaluated and their score is
calculated and saved then and there to determine the performance. The Online
Examination System is software that aims to provide the institutions an option of
selecting the eligible students by themselves.
1.2.1 Features

 Starting with registration process, the student will register himself/herself online.

 As soon as the student is registered with the system, the student will select the courses
for which he will give the exams.

 The student may only choose from the selected available options and may not choose
more than three courses.

 The system will allocate the date to the student for the examinations.

 The system will automatically generate reminder message prior to exam date to students.

 On the specified dates, the student will give his/her exams online.

 If the student fails to give the exam online on the specified date, he may be given another
date subject to approval by the course instructor. However, this step may not be repeated
more than two times.

 Once the student has given the examination, the online system will pass his/her
examination to the course instructor.

 The course instructor will mark the student’s exam. During this process he/she will
check there has been no plagiarism. The course instructor will also try to be fair in his
marking.

 If there is any evidence, there has been plagiarism the online system will then message
the student. And the student will have considered to have failed that specific
examination.

 The module instructor after checking the paper will record the marks on the online
system.

 Finally, the result will be published on the online examination system.

the system may be designed as cross-platform solution by using JavaScript. Users will have easy
access to the exam and check the status of the exam they take by various devices like PC and
Mobile Phone.
