Q13 Please comment on the teacher candidate's overall performance in the area of professional knowledge.

Ms. Lewis has been a wonderful addition to my classroom. She is highly knowledgeable of the English curriculum and she is very
hardworking. She has seamlessly taken charge of all of my classes and the students not only respect her, but thoroughly enjoy her
presence in the classroom. Ms. Lewis contributes her ideas and opinions during PLC meetings and planning sessions with other
English teachers in the department. Her ideas are relevant and target the needs of our students. She is highly knowledgeable of the
content. She has a vast knowledge base of both literature and grammar. Because of this, students seek out her help and opinions
about their writing. I believe Ms. Lewis has done an outstanding job so far and I am looking forward to the second half of her time spent
with me and my students.

Ms. Lewis has successfully joined our PLC and works very well with the other teachers and administrators (assistant principal and
literacy coaches) in the department. She is quick to vocalize her opinions and ideas during our planning sessions and has contributed
several great ideas to our learning plans. Ms. Lewis creates her learning plans several days prior to teaching them in order to ask for
constructive criticism from either myself or other teachers in the department.

Q17 Please comment on the teacher candidate's overall effectiveness of instructional delivery.

Ms. Lewis has a very strong presence in the classroom. She is very enthusiastic and happy. The students pick up on this and have
responded in a very positive way toward her. Students are motivated to follow the lesson Ms. Lewis is presenting and follow her
directions. There are things that Ms. Lewis can improve upon, but these are things that come with practice and experience in the
classroom. The learning target needs to be read aloud to the class every day at the beginning of class and throughout the lesson. More
modeling needs to be done by the teacher and students always need instructions read aloud to them. Transitions between activities
need to be identified and time needs to be given to students to make that transition. Again, these are things that come with practice and
experience.

Q19 Please comment on the teacher candidate's performance in the area of assessment of and for student learning.

Because Ms. Lewis has just taken over my classes, she has not yet had the chance to give assessments or analyze the data from those
assessments. As time goes on and she teaches more and more, her ability to complete these tasks will be available.

Ms. Lewis was able to make comments on student writing while the students were actually writing. This immediate feedback for the
students was very helpful. Students were able to communicate with her directly after reading her suggestions to improve their writing.

Ms. Lewis has developed a very professional and friendly relationship with the students in my classes. Students are quiet when she is
instructing and she is successful at redirecting them back to her when needed. She monitors students when they are working
independently. She is constantly on the move around the room checking student progress, answering questions, and giving praise.
Even though Ms. Lewis has only been in the classroom for three weeks, she already knows all the students' names. She greets them
every class period with a "hello" or "good morning" and is ever present in the halls during class changes.

Q25 Please comment on the students academic progress throughout the period of observation.

Because Ms. Lewis has just this week taken over full responsibility of my classes, she has yet to really experience any of the above
components of the student teaching process. She did give our students a pre-assessment this week and we will analyze the data
together early next week to plan small group instruction to meet the needs of our students. After analyzing the data, Ms. Lewis will then
plan her lessons with our PLC to focus on areas of concern. She will develop formative and summative assessments to monitor student
progress. She will also be responsible for documenting the data analysis and student progress throughout the unit.
