The black cat summary.
The story is about a man who loved animals, he married very young with a woman
who shared the love of animals. They had some animals like birds, golden fish, fine
dogs and a cat. The cat was a very big and beautiful animal. It was black, black
everywhere, and very intelligent. His name was Pluto, man's favorite animal. The cat
always followed the man, they lived happily together, they were best friends. But the
man was slowly changing, he began to drink, he was not the kind and loving person
that people knew before. He became more and more selfish. One day, the man came
home full of drink again and Pluto did not come to stay near, the man caught him
and picked him up, holding him tightly. Pluto was afraid of him and bit his hand. The
man took a knife from his pocket, held the animal by his neck and cut out one of his
eyes. After, the man felt evil, his mind was full pain and horror. But drink soon helped
him to forget. Slowly Pluto got better. He began to go around the house as usual
again. He never went near to him again. Slowly, the man started to feel angry, and
he did another terrible thing. The man caught the cat and hung him by his neck from
a tree until he was dead. That night their house was burning. The man, his wife and
their servant were lucky to escape. The house was burned down to the ground.
There was nothing left of the building the next morning. All the walls fell during the
night, except one, the man saw a black shape in the wall. It was the shape of large
cat, hanging by its neck. The man could not forget that black shape for months. He
even saw it in his dreams. He began to feel sad about losing the animal. He searched
for another black cat, of the same size and type as Pluto.
One night, as he sat in a dark and dirty drinking-house, he noticed a black object on
top of a cupboard, near some bottles of wine. it was a black cat, a very large one, as
large as Pluto. He looked like Pluto too in every way but one, Pluto did not have a
white hair anywhere on his body, this cat had a large white shape on his front. They
became good friends, the cat followed him to house and started to live with him. But,
as the weeks passed, he began to dislike the animal more and more. One day the
cat made fall the man, he very furiously, took the axe and tried to cut the animal, but
his wife stopped his arm with her hand, he lifted the tool again and buried it in her
head. He had to hide the body in the house. Days later the cat disappeared, and the
police came to investigate in the house. When they went to the cellar, they heard a
scream on the wall, they quickly washed it down and found the body of the woman
with the cat on her head. Now the cat was sending the man to the gallows.
