EIRP
EIRP Effective isotropic radiated power is the amount of power that
would have been radiated by an isotropic radiator (antenna) to produce
the peak power density  observed in direction of maximum antenna
gain.
𝐸𝐼𝑅𝑃 = 𝑃𝑡 𝐺
Advantage of using EIRP is path loss between transmitting and
receiving antenna can be easily calculated by ratio of transmitting and
receiving EIRPs.

ERP
Effective Radiated power  ERP is closely related term to EIRP . The
difference between both is that ERP is calculated by considering half
wavelength  dipole as a reference while EIRP is calculated using dipole
as a reference.
𝐸𝑅𝑃 = 𝐸𝐼𝑅𝑃 𝑑𝐵 − 2.15𝑑𝑏𝑖

Problem
Calculate the EIRP and ERP of antenna having Power gain 0.75 and
input power accepted by antenna is 0.375 Watt.
𝐸𝐼𝑅𝑃 = 0.375 ∗ 0.75 = 0.2813 𝑜𝑟 − 5.5𝑑𝐵

𝐸𝑅𝑃 = 𝐸𝐼𝑅𝑃 𝑑𝐵 − 2.15𝑑𝑏𝑖

𝐸𝑅𝑃 = −5.5 − 2.15 = −7.65 𝑑𝐵
