ESSA

No emergency blowdown valves (USVD), including associated signal lines/ motor/ actuator, are fireproofed
because all USVDs and associated air accumulators are located outside fire potential area.
The maximum fire impairment frequencies to USVDs and associated air accumulators is 4.4E-05 per year
(Appendix 2).
Instrument air lines for operation of blowdown valves may be damaged due to MAHs as no fire protection
requirement is implemented outside the FPA. The maximum fire impairment frequencies is 2.74E-05 pa
(Appendix 2). Instrument cables in FPA are provided with fire resistant design.
Since the fire impairment frequency is less than 1.0E-04 pa, the residual risk is considered tolerable, and the
SCDM is classified as “not vulnerable” to fire for the purpose of the ESSA. It is highlighted that no credit of
the EDP system intervention has been taken in the QRA, and the risk to people has been classified as
tolerable all the same.
